Leland Raymond “Lee” Christman – Comanche, OK
Leland Raymond “Lee” Christman, of Comanche, peacefully passed away early Thursday morning, November 22, 2012 at his home, at the age of 76. A funeral service will be held Monday November 26th at 1:00 p.m. at the Comanche First Baptist Church, with Bro. Bob Waitman officiating.
Interment will follow at Fairlawn Cemetery, under the direction of Comanche Funeral Home. Visitation will be Sunday 12:00-7:00. The family will be receiving friends from 5:00-6:00 p.m.
Lee was born August 15, 1936 in Woodsfield, OH to Arthur and Helen (Barker) Christman. He proudly served his country for twenty years in the United States Navy. He later worked for the Oklahoma Department of Transportation, until his retirement there. Lee and Sandra Sue Maness were united in marriage on September 9, 1961 in Maysville, OK. They had recently celebrated their 51st wedding anniversary. Lee was an instructor for the Hunters Safety Course for many years. He was an avid gun and knife enthusiast. He loved to hunt, and he was a great storyteller.
Survivors include his wife Sue, of the home; two daughters: Kati Allison, Boston, MA, and Kim Christman, Comanche; a son, Danny Christman and wife Becky, Dickson, TN; eight grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; a sister, Eleanor Powell, Clarington, OH; two sisters-in-law, Lynda Roebuck and husband Raymond, Comanche; and LaDonna Maness, Oklahoma City; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
Genell Phillips – Comanche, OK
Genell Phillips, a lifelong resident of Comanche peacefully passed away Friday afternoon, November 9, 2012 at Duncan Regional Hospital. She was 81 years old. A funeral service will be held Monday, November 12th at 2:00 p.m. at the Comanche Funeral Home Chapel, with Bro. Dow Pannell officiating, under the direction of Comanche Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Fairlawn Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday 12:00-6:00 p.m. and on Monday 9:00 a.m. until service time. The family will be receiving friends Sunday evening from 5:00-6:00 p.m.
Genell was born September 24, 1931 near Walters, OK to Carl B. and Nellie Lois (Peck) Calame. On November 8, 1947 she and Jack Phillips were united in marriage at the First Baptist Church in Henrietta, TX. They had recently celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary. Genell was a long time member of Comanche First Baptist Church. Her life revolved around her grandchildren which she loved dearly.
Survivors include her husband Jack, of the home; two sons: Jack L. Phillips and wife Edith, Duncan; and Dick N. Phillips, Comanche; a daughter, June Miller and husband Jason, Comanche; two grandsons: Neil Phillips and wife Jackie, Edmond, OK; and Jaxon Miller, Comanche; three granddaughters: Heather Phillips, Duncan; and Jayden Miller and Jaylee Miller, both of Comanche; two great grandchildren, Ryan and Sofia Patterson, Edmond, OK one brother, Bud Calame and wife Tynia, Hobbs, NM; and three sisters: Jean Pendleton, Artesia, Ca; Johnnie Hare, oF Duncan; and Judy Benson and husband Loyd, Frederick, OK; and numerous nieces, nephews, and many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Carl B. Calame; and two brothers in laws: Lefty Pendleton, and Bob Hare, also one sister in law, Jean Calame.
Bearers will be Neil Phillips, Jason Miller, Jaxon Miller, Brad Benson, Bobby Hare, and Carl Calame. Honorary bearer will be Edward Calame.
L. J. “Jay” Miears---Comanche, Ok
(Feb. 19, 1924 – Nov. 1, 2012)
L. J. “Jay” Miears stepped into eternity on Thursday, November 1, 2012 at the age of 88 years, 8 months, and 12 days, after losing his battle with illness. Funeral services will be held at 10 AM on Monday, November 5, 2012 at the Comanche First Baptist Church with Rev. Toby Walker and Bro. Trent Young officiating. Burial will be in the Fairlawn Cemetery, Comanche, OK under the direction of Comanche Funeral Home. Visitation will be Sunday from 1:00 pm until 5:00 pm with the family receiving friends from 4:00 pm until 5:00 pm.
Jay was born in Wright City, OK on Feb. 19, 1924, the son of Robert and Lela Miears (both now deceased). Jay was a long time resident of Stephens County, living in Velma, Duncan, and Comanche. Jay graduated from Friendship High School in 1942 and immediately joined the Army; where he served during World War II. Jay served in the Middle East on the Russian Supply Line under the Lend/Lease Act, and finished his service in the Signal Corps (reestablishing lines of communication with the occupational forces in Germany) until his release from service in 1946. Jay married Billie Ruth Beck of Comanche in April of 1946 and they raised their family here in Stephens County. After the death of his first wife, Jay married Peggy Jo Collins of Comanche in Sept. of 2002. Jay worked over 20 yrs for Amerada Petroleum in Velma, OK, then went to work for Halliburton Manufacturing in Duncan, OK and later was transferred to Amarillo, TX. He retired from Halliburton in 1985. Jay was a member of the First Baptist Church of Comanche where he served for many years as an active ordained deacon in the church.
Jay was preceded in death by his mother and father (Robert and Lela Miears), his 1st wife ( Billie Ruth Miears), his 2nd wife (Peggy Jo Collins), his sister ( Hazel Miears Carter), 8 brothers-in-law, and 5 sisters-in-law.
He is survived by a sister and her husband (Bill and Wanda Stewart of Canyon Lake, TX), a sister-in-law (Shirley Bowman of Arlington, TX), two sons and their spouses (Danny and Letha Miears of Warr Acres, OK; and Larry and Marilyn Miears of Daingerfield, TX); a daughter (Jadene Miears of Comanche, OK), two step-sons and their spouses (Andy and Deleta Collins of Duncan, OK; and Fred and Mary Collins of Ardmore, OK); and, a step-daughter (Jodi Collins Shirley of Henderson, NV). He is also survived by his grandchildren and step-grandchildren and their spouses, great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Paul Winston Hunt

Paul Winston Hunt went to be with the Lord October 31, 2012, surrounded by family and friends at home.
The funeral will be held at First Baptist Church, Comanche, November 3, 2012 at 3 pm, under the direction of Comanche funeral home. Robert Meister, Paul's Son- in- law will conduct the service. Burial will be at Fairlawn Cemetery.
Paul was born southwest of Hastings to David Lee Hunt and Mazie Whitaker Hunt. He attended school in Hastings. He married his high school sweetheart Gladys Vernell Hardy in 1943. Paul proudly served his country in the Army Aircorps during WWII, flying numerous combat missions. After the war he became a civilian employee at Tinker AFB and retired in 1974. He and Nell moved to Comanche where they enjoyed life on the family farm.
Paul loved his family, his church and Lord and served them all well. He and "Nell" taught Sunday school for many years and touched many lives of the young people in the area. He will always be remembered for his catchy sayings, warm smile and generous nature. He enjoyed hunting, raising livestock and spending time with his neighbors. He had a green thumb and grafted many of the pecan trees that are currently on the famiy farm.
He is survived by his wife, "Nell" of the home; a daughter and son-in-law Paulette and Robert Meister of St. George New Brunswick Canada: a son and daughter-in-law Mark and Denise Hunt of Comanche; Grandchildren Shannon Hunt of Norman, Christopher Hunt and his wife Caroline of Atlanta, Ga: Joseph, Daniel and Amy Meister of St George, New Brunswich, Canada; Step Grandchildren SPC Brooke Wisniewski of Ft Lewis Washington and SGT JR Wisniewski of Ft. Bragg North Carolina; Sister-in-law Pauline Brokaw of San Bernidino, Ca; Sister-in-law Theda Soldani of Tulsa, Ok. He will be missed by many relatives, neighbors and friends who were all dear to him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers Joe Hunt and wife Lois of Lawton, Brinkley Hunt and wife Billie of Chickasha and Clarence Hunt and wife Opalof Duncan; one sister Edith Morgan and husband Clifford "Demp" of Comanche, and Daughter-in-law Debbie Hunt of Norman.

Julie Ann Smith Montgomery of Comanche, passed away Thursday evening, October 18, 2012 at Comanche County Memorial Hospital. She was 40 years old. A memorial service will be held Tuesday October 23rd at 2:00 p.m. at the Clyde Burk Rodeo Arena, under the direction of Comanche Funeral Home. Visitation will be Sunday 1:00-5:00 p.m. and Monday 9:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. The family will be receiving friends Monday evening 6:00-7:00 p.m.
Julie was born September 1, 1972 at Winfield, Illinois to Bruce and Catherine Ann (Horn) Smith. She came to Comanche is 2000, moving from Chicago, Illinois. Julie enjoyed golfing, helping with school activities, and riding horses. More than anything else she loved spending time with her family.
Survivors include her husband Jeff, of the home; a daughter, Harley Angeles, of the home; her parents, Bruce and Catherine Smith, Hooversville, PA; one sister, Michelle Castoe and husband Larry, Marlow; grandmothers: Erlene Horn, Hooversville, PA, and Betty Enk, Bartlett, IL; an aunt, Sharon Smith, Bartlett, IL; two uncles: Rob Smith and wife Sandy, Des Moines, IA, and Scott Smith and wife Judy, Metropolis, IL; a niece and nephew, Grace Castoe and Jordan Milhorn, both of Marlow; and many cousins and friends.

Wayne Kennedy – Duncan, OK
Mr. Wayne Kennedy passed away early Sunday morning, October 7, 2012 following a brief illness. He was 75 years old. A memorial service will be held October 10th at 2:00 p.m. at Duncan Four Square Church. Burial will be held at Fairlawn Cemetery, under the direction of Comanche Funeral Home.
Visitation will be Tuesday 9:00-7:00 p.m. and Wednesday 9:00 a.m. until noon. The family will be receiving friends from 6:00-7:00 p.m. Tuesday evening.
Wayne was born October 13, 1936 in Paris, TX. On May 13, 1980 he and Patricia Ann Pannell were united in marriage at Wichita Falls, TX. He enjoyed keeping busy- he was always working. He loved mowing lawns, playing cards, especially “rummy”. He liked to watch WWF wrestling, and he loved being with his dog, Digger.
Survivors include his two children: Angela Sanchez and husband Dino, Duncan; and Timmy Valentine and wife Jada, Duncan; eleven grandchildren: Mason, Heather, Mikka, Tesla, Emily, Eve, Donovan, Taylor, Makayla, Justin, and Amanda; and two great grandchildren: Maylee and Chandler. Also his “adopted family”, Mark and Amy Willhite, and Melissa and Chris Keck.
Wayne was preceded in death by his wife of 31 years, Patricia; a son, Monte Ray Pannell; and a grandchild, Jordyn Sierra Sanchez.
Pallbearers will be Chris Keck, Phillip Aragon, Jimmy Akers, Josh Sanchez, Donovan Martin Jr, and Mason Valentine.
Annabelle Nora Tilley Switzer – Comanche, OK
Annabelle Nora Tilley Switzer, a longtime Comanche resident passed away on Tuesday, September 25, 2012 at Duncan Regional Hospital. She was 92 years old. Annabelle was born July 19, 1920 at Navina, OK to Charles Ray and Myrtle Geneva (Taylor) Williams. She and John Doyle Tilley were united in marriage on May 2, 1936 in Duncan. They made their home in Comanche. They were married for 51 years prior to his death on May 20, 1987. Annabelle later married Howard Switzer on April 28, 1988. She loved attending church, going fishing, helping out her neighbors, and quilting. More than anything else she loved spending time with her family.
Survivors include her husband Howard, of the home; three sons: Jerry Tilley and wife Michele, Comanche; Freddie Tilley and wife Betty, Duncan; and Ricky Tilley and wife Lynn, Comanche; two daughters: Kaye Easter and husband Ron, Roanoke, TX; and Janice Schumacher, Comanche; three step-sons: Eddie Switzer, Jimmy Switzer, Ronnie Switzer and wife Diana; a step daughter, Dottie Valentine; 23 grandchildren; numerous great, and great-great grandchildren. Also three sisters: Ally Cox and husband Jimmy, Oklahoma City; Deloris Krugg, Burden, KS; and Polly Salmon, Lawton; two sisters-in-law, Lynn Williams, Duncan and Freda Williams, Princeton, TX; and many other relatives and friends.

Devin Wayne Edwards passed away suddenly Wednesday, September 19, 2012 in Duncan. He was 19 years old. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, September 25th at 2:00 p.m. at the Ray of Hope Church, with Bro. Doyle Patrick and Bro. Dow Pannell officiating, under the direction of Comanche Funeral Home. Visitation will be Sunday 1:00-5:00 p.m.; Monday 9:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m.; and Tuesday 9:00 a.m. until noon. Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 6:00 til 7:00.
Devin was born August 12, 1993 in Duncan to Scott and Torina (Foster) Edwards. He enjoyed hunting, going mudding, riding the three wheeler, riding go-karts, and paintball, but more than anything else Devin loved fishing. Nothing made him happier than spending time at a lake or pond. Devin graduated from Comanche High School this past May. He also attended Red River Area Vo-Tech. Before attending Comanche School Devin also attended school in Iowa Park, TX. He attended elementary and middle school in Duncan. He participated in football, soccer, track (where he threw the discus and also the shot putt), and was an accomplished weight lifter, winning a regional championship in his weight division. Growing up he had a chocolate lab named “Coco” who was his constant companion.
Devin is survived by his father, Scott Edwards of Comanche; his mother, Torina (Foster) Roberts of Iowa Park, TX; his grandparents: Bobby and Marilynn Edwards, Comanche and Bill Foster, Duncan; two sisters: Kaitlin Roberts and Jessica Roberts, Iowa Park, TX; his step-father: Mark Roberts, Iowa Park, TX; three aunts: Telisa Tidwell and husband John, and their son John Riley Tidwell, Duncan; Billie Dixon and husband Bobby, Durant, OK; Trish Twigg and husband Mike, Duncan; his uncle, Greg Foster and wife Katiee, Collinsville, OK; a nephew Braylyn Roberts, Iowa Park, TX; also his number one best friend, Steven Moore; and several other aunts, uncles, cousins, and many dear friends. He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Gaynelle Foster.
Devin left this world much too soon, but we know that we will see him again. In between time we will cherish his memory. He was a wonderful son, grandson, brother, nephew, cousin, uncle, and friend. He was a friend to so many. He will forever be in our hearts. Not a day will go by that we will not think of Devin.

Barbara was born March 11, 1939 in Comanche to Barney H. and Minnie Lee (Neeld) Williamson. She had a “green thumb” and could grow anything. She loved to sew, quilt, hang wallpaper, cook, and she loved spending time with her family. She loved going to church, and was a member of the First Christian Church in Waurika.
She is survived by companion of twenty three years, Jack Welch; three sons: Bobby Lee Youngblood, Moore, OK; San Martin Jr., Duncan; Ray Martin, Comanche; a daughter, Evelyn Branch and husband Alton, Comanche; grandchildren: Bridget Ford and husband Mike, Marlow; Chaz Branch and wife Sarah, Colorado City, TX; Toby Martin and wife Linzee, Comanche; and Kaydi Allen, Duncan; five great grandchildren: Ryan Ford, Jaxon Eubanks, Levi Branch, Grady Martin, and Kynlee Martin; two brothers: Jackie Williamson and wife Ethel, Rush Springs; and Freddie Williamson and wife Sue, Marlow; one sister, Sharion Taapken, Duncan. Raymond M. Hendricks, 77, a lifelong resident of Comanche passed away early Sunday morning, September 2, 2012 in Marlow. A graveside service will be held Wednesday, September 5th at 2:00 p.m. at the Fairlawn Cemetery in Comanche, with Bro. Dow Pannell officiating, under the direction of Comanche Funeral Home. Raymond was born October 8, 1934 in Comanche to Levi and Pearl Mae (Combs) Hendricks. He was a former firefighter for the City of Comanche. He was also a barber. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing guitar and singing, reading, and spending time outdoors.
Survivors include his wife Betty, of the home; sons: Billy Ray Hendricks and wife Judy, Comanche; Michael Jay Hendricks, Azle,TX; George Hendricks and wife Carol, Comanche; a daughter, Lynn Manual, Eunice, LA; four step-sons: Randy Hendricks and wife Cindy, Moore, OK; Thomas Hendricks, Comanche; Lynn Lawson and wife Dollie, Comanche; and Chris Lawson and wife Marilyn, Comanche; one step-daughter, Cheryl Mooney and husband Scotty, Comanche; a sister, Gretna Stover, Texas; five grandchildren: David Ray Hendricks, Lauri Langley, Niki Miller, Justin Miller, and Joseph Miller; numerous step grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, San Martin; a son, Johnny Youngblood, grandchildren: Jill Martin, Caitlyn Eubanks, and Sammy Youngblood; five brothers, and four sisters.
Raymond Marland Hendricks – Comanche, OK
Raymond M. Hendricks, 77, a lifelong resident of Comanche passed away early Sunday morning, September 2, 2012 in Marlow. A graveside service will be held Wednesday, September 5th at 2:00 p.m. at the Fairlawn Cemetery in Comanche, with Bro. Dow Pannell officiating, under the direction of Comanche Funeral Home. Visitation will be Tuesday 9:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. and Wednesday 9:00 a.m. until service time.
Raymond was born October 8, 1934 in Comanche to Levi and Pearl Mae (Combs) Hendricks. He was a former firefighter for the City of Comanche. He was also a barber. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing guitar and singing, reading, and spending time outdoors.
Survivors include his wife Betty, of the home; sons: Billy Ray Hendricks and wife Judy, Comanche; Michael Jay Hendricks, Azle,TX; George Hendricks and wife Carol, Comanche; a daughter, Lynn Manual, Eunice, LA; four step-sons: Randy Hendricks and wife Cindy, Moore, OK; Thomas Hendricks, Comanche; Lynn Lawson and wife Dollie, Comanche; and Chris Lawson and wife Marilyn, Comanche; one step-daughter, Cheryl Mooney and husband Scotty, Comanche; a sister, Gretna Stover, Texas; five grandchildren: David Ray Hendricks, Lauri Langley, Niki Miller, Justin Miller, and Joseph Miller; numerous step grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Kay Miller; three sisters: Veta Smith, Claire Hendricks, and Naomi Hurst; three brothers: A.J. Hendricks, Gene Hendricks, and Leo Hendricks; and a step daughter, Sandra Green.

Leonard Arnold Pannell, 90, passed away peacefully, Tuesday morning, August 14, 2012 in Duncan, OK. Funeral service will be Friday, August 17, 2012 at 10:00 am at Ray of Hope Church in Duncan with his son, Bro. Dow Pannell and Bro. Mike McCord officiating. Burial will follow in Fairlawn Cemetery in Comanche under the direction of Comanche Funeral Home.
Visitation will today from 9:00 am until 7:00 pm with the family receiving friends from 6:00 pm until 7:00 pm.
Leonard was born on November 17, 1921 in Broken Bow, OK to Everett and Pearl (Wilson) Pannell. Being born and raised in McCurtain County, Oklahoma, he learned the value of hard work just as everyone did of that "Greatest Generation". When WWII broke out, he enlisted in the US Army and served his country proudly as a combat soldier of the 84th Infantry, 309th Engineer Combat Battalion (Railsplitters)in the European Theatre.
After returning from the war, Leonard married the love of his life, Dortha Ann Tilley on February 3, 1947 in Wichita Falls, TX..
Leonard was an entrepreneur and loved hard work, whether it was at Pannell's Food Market, or outdoors with his buddies catching monster catfish, cutting and baling hay, and caring for his cattle.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 65 years, Dortha, a daughter and son-in-law, Sherry and James Morrow of Ardmore, OK, a son and daughter-in-law, Dow and Cheryl Pannell of Comanche, OK and a daughter and son-in-law, Pam and Bobby Harrel, of Duncan, OK.; three sisters, Dorothy Black and husband Odell, Margaret Bender and Jean Crawford, all of Broken Bow, OK.
He also leaves the great joys of his life, his grandchildren, Cheri and husband Eric Dunn, Amie McIntire, Jimmy Morrow, all of Ardmore, Lisa and husband Jeff Montgomery of Lone Grove, Holly and husband Ryan Atkinson of Duncan, and Heather and husband Lt. Robert Russell of Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin, and his 6 very special great-granddaughters, Ali, Aryn, Abby, and Emmy Dunn, and Layla and Lily Montgomery as well as a host of nieces, nephews and many special friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Everett Durwood (Pete) Pannell, and one sister, Claudius A. Sears.

William Robert Biffle was born on June 29, 1927 in Duncan to Roy Charles and Ruby Audrey (Youngblood) Biffle. On July 21, 1950, Robert married Gearldine Carroll in Wichita Falls, TX. They made their home in Duncan for many years. After graduating from Comanche High school, Robert served his country in both the Marines and Navy. After serving in the military, he returned to Duncan and went to work for Halliburton. He retired from Halliburton in 1986 after 32 years. Robert loved to fish especially at Lake Murray.
Robert is survived by one son, Perry Biffle, Duncan; one daughter, Gwen Brashears and husband, Mike , Duncan; five grandchildren, Melissa Gardner, Oklahoma City, Chris Biffle and Tabatha , Bray, Melissa McCombs and husband, Marshall, Melissa, Texas, Shelli Brashears, Oklahoma City, Michelle Smith and husband, Dave, Bartlesville, OK; two great grandsons, Sooner and Bradley, Duncan; and eight great step-grandchildren; one brother, Price Biffle, Ft Worth, TX; one sister, Dovie Huckabaa and husband, Pete, Duncan; sisters-in-law, Winnie Biffle, Duncan, Joyce Biffle and Dora Biffle, Woodward, Ok, Gladys Carroll, Velma, Juanice Carroll, Comanche; step-brother, Ronnie Williams and wife, Patsy , Bethany, OK; step-sister, Shirley Bush and husband, Jerry, Claremore, OK. and many other relatives and friends.

Betty Sue (Willeford) Garrett, 83, of Comanche, Oklahoma, passed from this life on Wednesday, August 8, 2012. She was born November 4, 1928 to Olin and Tommie (Carter) Willeford in Duncan, Oklahoma. Mrs. Garrett is survived by her husband of 64 years, Randall Chester Garrett; one son, Bret Garrett and his wife, Catherine of El Dorado, Arkansas; three sisters, Joy Foster and husband, George of Hurst, Texas; Ima Gildon and husband ,Troy of Duncan, Oklahoma; Jo Ann Hodges and husband, John of Duncan, Oklahoma; grandsons, Jared Garrett , Lance Garrett, Kye Garrett, and Jordan Garrett; grand-daughters, Keelie Lipscomb and her husband, Blake, Karlie Hallum and her husband,Patrick, and Kelsie Garrett; one great-grandson, Sam Lipscomb.
Mrs. Garrett attended Comanche High School graduating in the class of 1946. She loved basketball as a player and was an avid fan of the Comanche Indians. She was a homemaker and a faithful and active member of Prairie Hill Church of Christ for 43 years.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday August 11, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at the Prairie Hill Church of Christ with Mario Pineda officiating. Interment will be in the Fairlawn Cemetery in Comanche under the direction of Comanche Funeral Home. Dolores was born on November 15, 1929 in Loco, Ok to Dewey Lee and Ruby Willie (Kent) Wisdom.
Dolores Wisdom and C.P. Watson were high school sweethearts. On November 12, 1952 she married the love of her life in Wichita Falls, TX. In 1965 they moved from Loco to Comanche. Her greatest treasures were her children and grandchildren—she loved telling stories and spending time with them.
Dolores is survived by one son, James Dee Watson and his wife, Linda of Comanche; three daughters, April Stephenson and husband, Kenny of Haughton, LA, Aloha Sanders and husband, Bill of Edmond, Anita Randolph and husband , Dan of Duncan; Two sisters, Charlotte Flanagan of Salado, Tx, Lynda Hall and husband, George of Mustang, Ok; sister-in-law, Neda Lewis and husband, Mutt of Duncan; five grandchildren, Christy White, Todd Matney, Stephens Sanders, James Watson, Aimee Watson.

Brian Joseph Hayden, 63, of Comanche passed away Monday, August 6, 2012 in the DVA Medical Center in Oklahoma City. Brian was born March 29, 1949 in Chester, Pennsylvania to Joseph G. and S. Estelle(Greta) Hayden.
After graduating from high school, Brian married Linda Gray in Duncan on April 24, 1968. Brian served his country in the US Army from 1968 until 1971 while being stationed at Ft. Dix, Ft. Sill and in Korea.
Brian was a collector of model trains, loved to travel, loved his family and especially excelled in his culinary pursuits.
Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Linda of the home; a son, Steve Hayden and his wife, Kyan of New Mexico; a daughter, Heather Dixon and her husband, Jeff of London, England: three grandchildren, Stevie Hayden, Benji Dixon and Josh Dixon .

James William (Little Bill) Morgan, 80, of Comanche passed away late Thursday evening, August 2, 2012 at the Comanche County Memorial Hospital in Lawton. Bill was born November 29, 1931 in Comanche to Ira and Gladys (Keenan) Morgan. He and Venita Bardsher were united in marriage on April 20, 1961 in Wichita Falls, TX. He loved ranching, playing music, and singing.
Survivors include one son, Jimmy Morgan and wife Lisa, Comanche, a daughter Pam Dobbins and husband Smokey, Comanche, a brother Pat Morgan and wife Ora Fay, Comanche, seven grandchildren: Jeff Dobbins and wife Erin, Chris Dobbins and wife Jennifer, Nic Dobbins and wife Jacy, Aaron Morgan and wife Ashley, Cassidy Morgan, Baylee Morgan, and Dana Kribbs and husband Frank, fourteen grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild, and many other relatives and friends.
Bill was preceded in death by his wife Venita, a daughter, Janet Yarbrough, his parents, and a great grandson, Jeffrey Adam Dobbins.

Ernest Dillard Wright – Duncan, OK
Ernest Dillard Wright passed away on Thursday August 2, 2012 in Duncan, at the age of 92. A graveside service will be held Monday, August 6th at 10:00 a.m. at the Terral Cemetery, under the direction of Comanche Funeral Home. Visitation will be Sunday 1:00-5:00 p.m.
Ernest was born July 11, 1920 to Thomas Jefferson and Beulah May (Goldsmith) Wright in Atlee, OK He married Irma Williams on May 2, 1943 in Waurika. Ernest and Irma were a great team as they managed Hicks Department Stores in Marietta, Marlow, and Comanche for 39 years. They moved to Comanche in 1964 and remained there until he moved to Duncan in 2009.
Ernest served on the Comanche City Council and as Mayor. He was a past president of the Comanche Chamber of Commerce. He was named Comanche’s Outstanding Man of the Year in 1976. He has been president and served in all other offices of the Comanche Lion’s Club. Ernest and Irma were longtime members of the Comanche Church of Christ.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife Irma, 4 brothers and 3 sisters. He is survived by two sisters: Pauline Barker, and husband J.W. of Henrietta, TX, and Doris Mills of Millerton, OK, niece and caregiver Jan Cole and husband Clay, of Duncan, and numerous other nieces and nephews.
Margie Louise Jackson—Terral, OK
Margie Louise Jackson suddenly passed from this life on Friday, July 27, 2012 at her residence in Terral, OK at the age of 76. Margie Louise Martin was born on October 3, 1935 to Oliver and Loreda (Huskey) Martin in Terral, OK. Margie was a member of the Terral Church of Christ for over 64 years. After graduating from Terral High School, she married Wayne Jackson on November 25, 1955 in the Terral Church of Christ and they made Terral their home. Margie had many loves such as crosswords puzzles, sports-- especially basketball; but more than anything she loved spending time with her grandchildren.
Margie is survived by her husband of 56 years, Wayne; One son, Kyle Jackson and wife, Tammie of Henrietta, TX; two daughters, Angela Throckmorton and husband, Lloyd of Bowie and Cheryl Whatley and husband, Jerry also of Bowie; one brother ,Roy Glen Martin and wife, Susie of Edmond; four grandchildren, Tiffany Lyons and husband, Trent, Garrett Jackson, Taylor Whatley and Tyson Whatley; two great grandchildren, Steven Lyons and Skye Lyons. She was preceded in death by her parents; and one brother: Ray Martin and his wife, Murrell.

Robert D. “Bob” Blanton, a longtime resident of Comanche peacefully passed away on Saturday, July 21, 2012 at him home north of Comanche, following a lengthy illness. He was 82 years old. Bob was born October 21, 1929 at Drumright, OK to William Thomas and Edith Melvina (Brewster) Blanton. He began working for the Tidewater Refinery in Drumright in 1949. He later went to work for Sun Pipeline as a products inspector, working in Duncan, Wynnewood, and Ardmore. Bob retired in 1989. Bob married Darlene Estes in 1949. They had two children, Steve and Carol. On August 17, 1973 he and Mildred Hill were united in marriage in Comanche, and he became the dad that he didn’t have to be to Billie Jo. Bob was a loyal member of the Comanche First United Methodist Church, serving as a board chairman for many years. He loved fishing, listening to Willie Nelson music, watching and cheering for the Dallas Cowboys, and telling jokes- even to the very end.
Bob is survived by his wife Millie, of the home; a son, Steve Blanton, Duncan; daughters: Carol Zachary, Duncan, and Billie Jo Ames, Comanche; two sisters: Marilyn Godfrey and James, Cushing, OK, and Joyce Walton and Wayne, Claremore, OK; a sister in law, Norma Blanton, Council Grove, KS; six grandchildren: Drew Blanton and Misty, Duncan; Capt. Ashli Blanton, Slidell, LA; Cody Zachary and Lisa, Blanchard, OK; Cade Zachary and Aianna, Oklahoma City, OK; Josh McGowen and Courtney, Comanche; and Jil Roebuck and Jessie, Comanche; and many other relatives and friends.

Joy was born May 6, 1924 in Trousdale, OK to Virgil “Tex”and Eva Marie (Hitt) Smith. She and Royce A. Wisdom were united in marriage on December 24, 1943 in El Reno, OK. Joy loved reading, sewing, cooking, fishing, camping, traveling, playing basketball, and softball. Joy was a past Worthy Matron of the Eastern Star.
Survivors include her husband Royce, of the home; a daughter Ruthie Ann and husband Dr. Chris McMeans, Enid, OK; a son Ronnie and wife Julie Wisdom, Comanche; four grandchildren: Tawna Ann Meadows, Oklahoma City, OK; Christie Ann McMeans, Enid, OK; Kory Wisdom, Comanche; and Law and wife Casidy McMeans, Norman, OK; three great-grandchildren: Trevor Meadows, Alyssa Wisdom, and Kaylee Wisdom; one sister, Linda and husband Don Clemishire, Hominy, OK; a brother Roger P. Anna was born July 9, 1929 in Atoka County, OK to Emmitt Clyde and Minnie May (Jones) McClour. She and James H. Ball were united in marriage on June 10, 1956 in Hugo, OK. They came to Comanche in 1972 to make their home. Anna enjoyed gardening, sewing, reading, ceramics, playing bingo, playing music and singing.
She is survived by five children: Marilyn Coomer and husband Tommy, Comanche; Alvis Ball and wife Ann, Lawton; Cathy Henderson and husband Lee, Comanche; Brenda Riggs and husband Robert, Duncan; and Jim Ball and wife Mitzi, Spring Hill, TN; 8 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren; and one brother, Clyde MClour, of California.
Anna was preceded in death by her husband James, in 2008; her parents; two brothers: Grover McClour and Melvin McClour; and two sisters: Pearl Sanders and Nita Phillips.
Bruce Randall Garrett---Duncan, OK
Bruce Randall Garrett, 56, of Duncan passed from this life on Friday, June 8, 2012. He was born August 3, 1955 in Duncan to Randall and Betty Garrett. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday June 12, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at the Fairlawn Cemetery in Comanche, with Mario Pineda officiating, under the direction of Comanche Funeral Home. Visitation will be Monday 9:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. The family will be receiving friends from 6:00-7:00 p.m. on Monday at the Comanche Funeral Home chapel.
Bruce was a self-employed carpenter, contractor, and in general a good handyman. He was a loving father and took great pride in his children.
He is survived by his wife Tracy of Duncan ; five children and one step-son, Keelie Lipscomb and husband, Blake, Karlie Hullum and her husband, Patrick, Kye Garrett, Kelsie Garrett, Jordan Garrett and step-son Tyler Hampton; his parents Randall and Betty Garrett; his brother and sister-in-law Bret and Catherine Garrett; and one grandson Sam Lipscomb.
Royce Lindel Daniel – Comanche, OK
Mr. Royce Lindel Daniel, age 79, of Comanche passed away Monday afternoon , May 14, 2012 in Comanche County Memorial Hospital in Lawton. A graveside service, with full military honors, will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, May 18, 2012 at Fairlawn Cemetery, under the direction of Comanche Funeral Home. Visitation will be Thursday 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. and Friday 9:00 a.m. until service time.
Royce was born January 12, 1933 at Dickens, TX to Earl and Ida Mae (Duncan) Daniel. After his graduation he enlisted in the United States Air Force. He proudly served his country for 20 years, from 1951 until 1971. During that time he was stationed all over the world, and he also served in Viet Nam. On December 18, 1952 he and Hazel Faye Wallace were married at Burkburnett, TX. They came to Comanche in 1998 from Auberry, CA to make their home. Royce loved fishing, camping, all animals, racing cars (he owned two super modified race cars), and spending time with his family. He was especially fond of the older citizens. He owned a garage for more than twenty years and during that time he always make sure he gave the senior citizens a “break”.
Survivors include his wife of fifty nine years, Hazel, of the home; three sons: Royce E. Daniel and wife Dixie, Clovis, CA, Paul D. Daniel, Fresno, CA, and Lawrence Daniel, also of Fresno; five grandchildren: Crystal, Alana, Debbie, Michelle, and Josh; one brothers, Levoy Daniel and wife Lucille, Sanger, CO; numerous great-grandchildren, and many close friends.
Royce was preceded in death by his parents.

Oscar was the fifth child born to Lee and Nannie (Morand) Bishop, on September 6, 1926 at Velma. He grew up in eastern Oklahoma and later Comanche. He was a 1949 graduate of Comanche High School. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy the last part of WW II, and also in Korea. He spent fifteen years in the Navy and Navy Reserve. He joined the Army National Guard in Duncan in 1974. He also spend time in the Army Ready Reserve. Oscar retired in 1986 with a total of thirty years of military service to his country. He retired as a SFC with a rank of E-7. He was a Mess Sergeant. Nothing gave him more joy than serving the troops meals in the mess hall, or out in the field. He received many awards for his cooking meals and baking cakes and pies. He was a 32 degree Mason. Oscar worked at Halliburton in the MRD for eighteen years. He moved to the Rio Grande Valley of Texas, at Edinburg in 1983. He loved gardening, and could grow just about anything. He also enjoyed working in his five acres of grapefruit and oranges.
Survivors include his wife of thirty-nine years, Jessie, of the home; two daughters: Faye Jeane and husband Ronny Hupp, Comanche, and Teresa Ann and husband Dr. James Forrestal, Ardmore, OK; their mother, Wanda Woodard, Comanche; two granddaughters: Tracie (Hupp) and husband Louie Kelch, Ardmore, OK, and Sarah (Forrestal) and husband Marc Norton, Ardmore, OK; and one grandson, Nathan Forrestal and wife April, ofTexas; a sister, Betty McIntosh, Minnesota; five great-grandchildren, and one great-great granddaughter. Also, three step-daughters: Brenda Clark, of the home; Debra and husband William Gulley, Marshall, TX; and Wilma and husband Mike Lambert, Caddo Lake, TX; ten step grandchildren; eleven step great grandchildren; and two step great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, and three sisters.
Anna Lee Evans – Duncan, OK
Anna Lee Evans, of Duncan passed away on Tuesday, May 8, 2012 at Duncan Regional Hospital. She was 92 years old. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 12th at 11:00 a.m. at Grace Chapel Pentecostal Church with Rev. Eddie Jackson officiating, assisted by Rev. Joe Stulir. Anna was born June 1, 1919 near Bray to William J. and Mary (Early) Spencer. On November 16, 1937 she and Eugene Randolph Evans were united in marriage at Duncan.

Evans and wife Margaret, Leaburg, Oregon; two daughters: Vadis Chasteen and husband Ed, Birmingham, Alabama, and Connie Wellons and husband Woody, Ogden, Utah; ten grandchildren: Lisa Chasteen, Rebecca Sosbee, Joe D. Evans Jr, Daniel R. Evans, Cheryl Rodriguez, Roy Evans, Nancy Heilaman, Rhoda Sampley, Ky Sherron Cox, and Somer Gatlin; twenty-two great- grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. Anna was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, three brothers, nine sisters, and a great-granddaughter.

Carol was born April 20, 1952, in Comanche to Joe and Daisy Dunklin. Carol graduated from Trimble Tech High School in 1970. She worked at the Fort Worth Star-Telegram with Mr. Kuykendall for 18 years. Carol loved volunteering at Huguley Hospital, scrapbooking, fishing and spending time with her grandsons.
Carol is survived by her loving daughter, Crystal South and husband, Nathan, of Crowley, TX; grandsons, Shelton Wayne South, Garrett David South, Parker Lawson South, Brant Austin South; two sisters, Susan Gilland and husband, Wayne, of Comanche and Wilma Jean Ferris of Fort Worth, TX; one brother, Randy Dunklin of Cisco, TX; and numerous nieces, nephews, friends and family.

Sandra Alene Brady – Comanche, OK
Sandra Alene Brady, a resident of the Meridian community passed away Tuesday morning, April 24, 2012 at her home. She was 59 years old. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Sandra was born October 3, 1952 in Anchorage, Alaska to Howard William and Alene (Graham) Greene. In 1978 she and Gene Brady were united in marriage at Belair, Maryland. Being a career military wife, she moved with Gene wherever he was stationed, including two tours in Manheim, Germany. They returned to Ft. Sill in 1983 and remained there until his retirement in 1991, at which time they moved to Meridian.
Sandra enjoyed crocheting, sewing, painting, and working in her garden. She loved spending time with her family. She will greatly missed as a loving wife, mother and grandmother

Delma Bussey was born April 27, 1913 in Terral to George and Cumi Locke. She passed from this life to her home in Glory on Friday April 13, 2012 at 8:00 p.m. at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Doris and Weldon Martin. They have loved and cared for her for the last thirteen years. Delma and husband Dempsey were lifelong farmers in the Terral community. Delma was a very loving mother, and grandmother. She loved her church family at the Assembly of God Church in Terral.

Aileen was born February 11, 1935 at Oklahoma City, OK to Lucian H. and Edna Pearlee (Christian) Bramlett. She and J.R. Wilson were united in marriage on September 5, 1953 in Oklahoma City. They had made their home there until 1995 when they moved to Hastings.
Aileen, or “Meme” as she was lovingly known, loved all kind of music, dancing, and spending time with all of her family, including her faithful dog, “Ginger”.

James “Jim” Aaron Butler --- Duncan, OK
James Aaron Butler passed away Thursday, April 5, 2012 at Duncan Regional Hospital at the age of 71.
Memorial service will be held at 11:00 am Tuesday at New Hope Baptist Church West in Duncan, under the direction of Comanche Funeral Home, with Bro. Randy Southerland officiating.
Jim was born on March 24, 1941 in Comanche to William Freeman and Clora Belle (Rather) Butler. After graduating from Comanche High School in 1959, Jim joined the US Marine Corp, serving until December, 1964. After completing his college, Jim served as space vehicle senior mechanic at the Kennedy Space Center during the Apollo Operations from May, 1966 til September, 1973 in Cape Kennedy, Florida. Jim helped train the Apollo astronauts; on every Apollo mission, his job was to make ready the capsule for takeoff. He retired from Rockwell International/Boeing as an aircraft assembly manager. Jim married Mary Lupe Flores on October 2, 1978 in Comanche.
Jim is survived by his wife, Lupe of the home in Duncan; sons, James Aaron Butler II of Tuttle, Ok and Damon Lee Butler of Comanche; daughters, Karen Butler Christie of Lancaster, California and Kimberly Ann Butler of Bradenton, Florida; five grandchildren, Michael, David, Anna Jane, Matthew and Stetson;
two great grandchildren; a brother, William Scott Butler of Burleson, Texas; two sisters, Loreva Sparks of Baton Rouge, Louisiana and Gail White of Comanche.

Alvin was born in Welch, OK to John Edward and Alma (Laduke) Walker. He and Virginia Lee Gambill were united in marriage 63 years ago, in Miami. They had lived in Miami all of their lives, until moving to Duncan four years ago to be near their son. Alvin loved hunting, fishing, gardening, and building just about anything. Wherever you would find Alvin, you would also find his faithful dog “Skipper”.

Patricia Ann “Pat” Kennedy, age 69, of Duncan, peacefully passed away on Wednesday, March 28, 2012 at her home in Duncan. Pat was born September 2, 1942 in Comanche, the daughter of Thomas Lee and Amanda Lucy (Morris) Pannell. She attended Duncan Schools, and worked at Tastee Freeze for over 30 years. She and Wayne Kennedy were united in marriage on May 13, 1980 at Wichita Falls, TX. Pat loved to crochet, watch game shows, and western movies on television, playing cards, and spending time with her family. She was a member of Four Square Gospel Church.
Survivors include her husband Wayne, of the home; a son Timmy Valentine and wife Jada, Duncan; a daughter Angela Sanchez and husband Dino, Duncan; her grandchildren: Justin Barrick, Telsa Taylor, Amanda Jennings, Mikka McClain, Mason Valentine, Emily Valentine, Eve Starr, Heather Campbell, Donavan Lance Martin Jr, Taylor De’Rae Corp, and Makayla Nicole Sanchez; and two soon-to-be great-granddaughters, Chandler McClain and Maylee Valentine; and one nephew, Alan Pannell. Pat was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Montie Ray Pannell, a grandchild, Jordyn Sanchez, and one brother, Tommy Pannell.

She and Benjamin Scott were united in marriage April 3, 1943 in Lubbock, TX. She was a homemaker, mother, beloved grandmother and Pastor’s wife. Bennie was a lifelong Baptist and member of Patterson Avenue Baptist Church In Comanche.

Jack C. Penn,76, of Duncan passed away peacefully and went to be with his Lord and Savior on March 24,2012, after a valiant battle against cancer.
A funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 27, 2012 at the Comanche Funeral Home with Jerry Brewer of Elk City officiating. Interment will follow at Fairlawn Cemetery under the direction and care of the Comanche Funeral Home. Jack C. Penn was born Tuesday, October 29, 1935 in Batesville, Arkansas, the only son of William Ray Penn and Velma Olenta Grover Penn. Jack was raised in the Batesville, Arkansas area and attended the Independence County Public School System, graduating from Southside High School in May 1953. Jack proudly served his county by enlisting March 3, 1954 in the United States Air Force and served in the Korean War.
He graduated from Indiana Tech with an Electrical Engineers Degree June 15, 1961. He had a varied career with companies such as Donier Engineering in Germany, AT&T Research Labs in North Carolina, General Trailer in Oregon, Texas Instruments in Dallas, Texas, Halliburton Company in Oklahoma and Allied Signal in Kansas City, Kansas
On February 26, 1983, Jack Penn and Jean Flanagan Webb were united in marriage at Duncan, Oklahoma. Jack enjoyed traveling, restoring 1965 and 1966 Mustang automobiles and genealogy. . He was very proud of his Confederate heritage.
Jack was a life member of the National Rifle Association and the Son of Confederate Veterans and was a charter member of Shelby’s Oklahoma Iron Men Camp # Camp # 1356 in Duncan. He was a 32nd Degree Master Mason in the Mount Zion Masonic Lodge # 10 in Batesville, Arkansas. He belonged to the Oasis Shrine of Charlotte, North Caroline, York Rite of Greensboro, North Carolina, Scottish Rite Consistory in McAlester, Oklahoma, Mustang Club of America, Antique Automobile Club of America, American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1192 in Duncan.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William Ray and Velma Olenta Grover Penn; grandparents, Hollis S. and Una May Dalton Penn; Vernon Richard and Ollie Mae Green Grover.
He is survived by his wife, Jean, of the home; a daughter, Beverly Green and her husband, Mike of Little Rock, Arkansas; three sisters, Ruth Hiatt and her husband, Russell, of Stites, Idaho, Geneva Lovell and her husband, Bob, of Chillocothe, Illinois, Billie Roberts and her husband, Harold, of Washington, Illinois; Four cousins, Bill Collom and Bob Collom of Pekin, Illinois, Geraldine Porter of Aynor, South Carolina and Bill Penn of Lawton, Oklahoma and many nieces and nephews.

C.W. Apple of Comanche passed away on March 22, 2012 in the Lawton Ft. Sill Veterans Center at the age of 90. Burial will follow in the Fairlawn Cemetery in Comanche with full military honors presented by the Stephens County Combine Honor Guard under the direction of Comanche Funeral Home. C. W. was born April 12, 1921 in Comanche, OK to Charlie Powell and Myrtle Lela “Rice” Apple. He and Connie Stanley were united in marriage July 15, 1941 and to this union 3 children were born. He began active duty in the U.S. Army September 18, 1943 serving in WWII. He was Master Sgt. In the 1777th Engineer Construction Battalion. He worked as a construction foreman at Ft. Sill for 25+ years. Connie (his wife of 60 yrs.) preceded him in death on March 8, 2001. He married Eula Irene Qualls April 21, 2003 and they had been living at Westwind in Marlow the past 3 years.
He is survived by his wife Eula Irene of 9 yrs.

J.W. was born April 1, 1930 at Terral, to Henry Grady and Nettie Jane (Cook) Lorentz. He worked for many years, and later retired from Rock Island Railroad. He and Doris Jean Tucker were united in marriage on December 22, 1960 in Nocona, Texas. He was a member of Terral United Methodist Church.
He is survived by a daughter, Amy McNutt and husband Rocky, Bowie, TX; a son, Jimmy Lorentz, Terral; one grandchild, Ashley McNutt, Bowie, TX; and one brother, Floyd Lorentz, Lancaster, CA.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Doris in December , 1999; his parents; 3 brothers and 1 sister

Donald Brown Howard, a life long resident of the Claypool community, passed away Tuesday August 9, 2011 at Mercy Memorial Hospital in Ardmore, Oklahoma. Don was 88 years old. Funeral services will be held at the Ringling United Methodist Church on Friday, August 12, at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow in the Ringling Cemetery. Visitation will be at the Alexander Funeral Home in Ringling beginning at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday. The family will be receiving friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Thursday evening at Alexander Funeral Home.
Don was born August 5, 1923, at Claypool to Wilton and Jessie Joe (Brown) Howard. He graduated from Ringling High School in 1941 where he was a member of the boxing team and served as FFA president. In September, 1944, he joined the United States Army. He served in the Philippine Islands in the Asiatic Pacific Theater campaigns. While there, Don received the Purple Heart for wounds suffered in the battle of Ipo Dam, on Luzon Island. He received the Asiatic Pacific Theater campaign ribbon with two bronze stars, Philippine Liberation medal with one bronze star, and the Army of Occupation of Japan ribbon. He also received the Distinguished Unit Badge Victory ribbon with three overseas service bars.
On December 25, 1946, Don and Vella Key Mathers were united in marriage at the Methodist parsonage in Ringling. They made their home on the family ranch at Claypool, a small community between Ringling and Waurika in Jefferson county. Don enjoyed the hard work of ranch life and he shared that joy with his grandchildren and great grandchildren, often taking them in the feed truck for a morning of fun with "Papa Don". Don was actively involved with the daily management of Howard Cattle Company, a business established by his grandfather, Noah Howard, in the late 1800's. Until 4 months ago, he worked along side his two sons, Jim and Steve, doing the book work, buying and selling cattle.
Service to his community was an important part of Don's life. He was a Master Mason, member of the American Legion, served on the school boards at Claypool and at Ringling for 13 years, and served on bank boards at Duncan and Lone Grove. He was a member of the Ringling United Methodist church, serving as board of Trustees chairman. Don was always a great supporter of the junior livestock sale and the Ringling Blue Devils.
Don most enjoyed service to his profession. He was a life-time member of the Oklahoma Cattlemen's Association, where he was honored as Cattlemen of the Year in 1992. He held memberships in the National Cattlemen's Beef Association, Kansas Livestock Assn., Texas Cattle Feeders Assn., and the Texas Southwest Cattle Raisers Association, where he received the honor of "Lifetime Ranching Heritage Award" presented in Houston, Texas in March, 2000. He credits his family for these recognitions and accomplishments.
Don is survived by his wife of 64 years, Vella Key, of their home in Claypool; four children: Jessie Kay Moore and husband, Mike, Ringling; James Wilton Howard and wife, Betty, Claypool; Dona Lynn Brooks and husband Mike, Claypool; and Steven Donald Howard and wife Kelly, Claypool; 14 grandchildren, Mika Gerken, Bill Moore, Julie McDonald, Jana Gandy, Danielle Neble, Alisa Howard, Lauren Southward, Carson Brooks, Stevanna Campbell, Waco Howard, Jessie Hughes, Kade Howard, Lakin Howard and Rance Howard. 25 great-grandchildren and a sister, Doris Howard Worley, Ringling; a special nephew, Randy Howard also of Ringling.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers: Melvin Howard and Paul Howard; two sisters Ruth Lester and Hazel LeValley; and a beloved grandson, Dalton Steve Howard.
Grandsons and grandsons'-in-laws will serve as pall bearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Jerry Shelton, Jerry Sutton, Robert York, George Foote, Biff Jackson, Jim Patton, and all the great grandchildren.

Dennis Robert Grundy--Ft. Worth, Texas
Dennis Robert Grundy passed from a life of pain to a life of glory on February, 26, 2012, in Fort Worth, Texas. He was 58. A funeral service will be held Thursday March 1st at 2:00 p.m. at the Comanche First Baptist Church, with Bro. Timothy Ball, Fr. Rex Arnold, and Rev. Ron Ogle officiating. Dennis was born in Duncan, OK, on March 10, 1953, to Bob and Lucile Grundy. He grew up in Comanche, OK, and was involved in many sports, music, and church activities. He was well-rounded, being a good basketball player, playing in the school band, and winning a state "Pride in Oklahoma" essay contest with the topic "Oklahoma: State of the Seventies." He later laughed about how much progress Oklahoma had made since the seventies, which he could never have foreseen. Dennis auditioned and earned a spot with a student singing group that toured Europe, and he even sang on the Eiffel Tower. Aside from his school and church activities, Dennis also worked for a time at his father's pharmacy, Grundy Rexall Drug, as an old-fashioned soda jerk. He graduated from Comanche High School in 1971.
Dennis attended Oklahoma Baptist University and graduated from Southeastern Oklahoma State in 1976 with a double major in English and Journalism. After teaching at several small Oklahoma high schools, he decided to work toward a master's degree at North Texas State (now UNT) in Denton. It was there that he met his future wife, Rhonda Russell. They were married on August 8, 1980, at St. Alban's Episcopal Church in Arlington, Texas. They enjoyed 31 and 1/2 years of marriage.
Dennis worked as a proofreader/editor and for a time he was the Sports Editor for the Gainesville Daily Register. He loved all sports throughout his life, but was always a big fan of all the University of Oklahoma teams. He was a wonderful person with a very big heart, and he will be greatly missed.
Survivors: Wife of 31 years, Rhonda Grundy of Ft. Worth; father, Bob Grundy; sister Margaret Austin-Strange, both of Comanche; sister-in-law Robin Massey; brothers-in-law Doug Strange and Lonnie Massey; nephews Daniel Massey, Steve Austin, and Scott Austin; nieces Laura Massey and Katie Massey; aunts Marian Sutton and Kathleen Wood; cousins Jeff Arnold, Rex Arnold, Dale Wood, Mark Wood, Susan Boyse and Sharon Watson, and two cats, Boomer and Elizabeth.

John Paul Adams, longtime resident of Comanche peacefully passed away on Friday evening March 2, 2012 at his home north of Comanche. He was 80 years old. A graveside service will be held Tuesday March 6th at 11:00 a.m. at Fairlawn Cemetery, under the direction of Comanche Funeral Home. John was born September 15, 1931 at Lynn, Arkansas to William W. and Arlie Zoe (Sackett) Adams. He was a graduate of Lynn High School, and Arkansas State University. In high school he played baseball and basketball. John and Marilyn Kelley were united in marriage on January 10, 1956 at Jackson, Mississippi. They came to this area in 1970 to make their home. He was a lifetime member of the V.F.W. and also AMVETS. John enjoyed riding, raising, and training horses; hunting, fishing, and all sports.
Survivors include his wife Marilyn, of the home; four daughters: Barbara Adams, Edmond, OK; Ann Cranford and husband Jim, Chandler, OK; Deborah Ledbetter and husband Phil, Willow Park, TX; Diane Alderson and husband Mark, Baker City, OR; and two brothers: Dale Adams, of Arkansas; and H.L. (Dusty) Adams, of Tennessee. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, John Paul Adams Jr, a grandson John Martin Jones, and a brother, Lloyd C. Adams.

Dora L. Barton, a lifelong resident of Comanche, peacefully passed away, surrounded by her family, on Sunday evening, March 11, 2012 at the Duncan Regional Hospital. She was 72 years old. A funeral service celebrating her life will be held Wednesday, March 14th at 2:00 p.m. at Living Waters Church in Comanche, with Bro. Joe Stulir officiating. Burial will follow in the Fairlawn Cemetery under the direction of Comanche Funeral Home. Dora was born May 13, 1939 near Weavers Chapel , east of Comanche, to Kelsey O. and Maud (Eason) Biffle. She was a graduate of Comanche High School. She and Jackie Barton were married on November 21, 1956 at Wichita Falls, TX. Dora was a devoted member of the Living Waters Church. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She volunteered at Christian Helping Hands.
Survivors include a son, Darrell Barton, Rush Springs, OK; daughter Vickie Barton, Comanche; one brother, Paul Biffle, Princeton, TX; three sisters: Joyce Sullivan, Comanche, Nellie Harbour, Wichita Falls, TX, and Shirley Hesbrook , and husband Albert, Duncan, OK; eleven grandchildren: Jerad Thompson, Jennifer Ward, Natasha Lumbert, Katrena Travis, Justin Barton, Jeanna Radeff, Bo Lumbert, Sidney Barton, Sancey Barton, Jakota Barton, and Jonah Barton; 25 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.

David was born August 30, 1961 at Nocona, Texas to Ada Belle (Hughes) and Henry Allen Ramsey Jr. He was a graduate of Terral High School. He worked as a mechanic for Durham Texaco.
David is survived by his children: David Lee Ramsey and wife Mieka, of Waurika; and Alyssa Rene Ramsey, also of Waurika; three grandsons: Karson, Bradley, and Hayden, mother, Ada Belle Ramsey of Terral; two brothers: Bruce Ramsey of Terral, Gerald Ramsey and wife Sheryl of Nocona, Texas; one sister, Kathy Ramsey Laskowski & husband Jeff of Ryan, he was proceeded in death by his father Henry Ramsey Jr.

SMSgt (Ret) Sammie J. (S.J.) Brown – Comanche, OK
SMSgt (Ret) Sammie J. (S.J.) Brown, a longtime resident of Comanche passed away Wednesday , February 1, 2012 at his home, at the age of 90. A graveside service will be held Monday, February 6th at 2:30 p.m. at Fairlawn Cemetery, with Rev. Don Toland officiating, under the direction of Comanche Funeral Home. Visitation will be Monday 9:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m.
Sammie was born October 25, 1921 in Duncan, the son of Rufus and Callie (Doyel) Brown. He grew up in Stephens County and started his education at Diamond School. He also attended school at Meridian and Addington.
In 1938 Sammie enlisted with the CCC, serving at the Rush Springs Camp, doing heavy construction. After completion of his enlistment with the CCC he returned to high school, graduating in 1941 from Addington High School. Upon graduation Sammie was awarded a full athletic scholarship for baseball at Colorado Springs College, CO (Now University of Colorado at Colorado Springs). But after graduation, the call of duty was beckoning Sammie, and he enlisted with the Army Air Corp in 1941, out of Waurika. His boot camp was in Wichita Falls, TX He started out as a Bombardier/Tail Gunner instructor, out of Yuma, AZ, Nellis Air Field, Las Vegas, NV, and Harlingen, TX He was upset that he could not go overseas to fight in the war, but the Air Force knew a good instructor when they had one. He was also instrumental in reorganizing and improvement of the Bombardier bay construction at the Lincoln, NE factory.
Sammie met the love of his life, Letha B. Stephens , in Hastings, OK in 1944. He made a special trip to Ft. Scott, KS, Letha’s hometown, to ask for her hand in marriage. They were united in marriage on April 3, 1945.
During his career Sammie traveled the world, from Asia to Europe. He represented the USAF as a member of the U.S. English All Stars baseball team, not only as their manager but also starting catcher. He also officiated over NCAA men’s and women’s baseball and basketball games. He is one of a few men that stayed with the military through three major wars- WWII, Korea, and Viet Nam.
Even while in the military, Sammie worked two other jobs so that his wife could stay home with their five children. He made sure his family did not do without.
Sammie lived a very rich and successful life. Not only was he a great husband, but an outstanding father, and an awesome grandfather, and as well as a friend. He was very active in his children’s lives. He was a Boy Scout Leader for many years. Two of his sons made Eagle Scouts with his encouragement. He even stepped up to the bat one year when his wife was ill and was a Girl Scout Leader for one year. Between sports, scouting, and jobs, he was a very busy man. Sammie was awarded the Order of the Arrow, from the Wagon Wheel District, Omaha, NE. He was a Master Mason, in good standing, of Bellevue Masonic Lodge #325, of Belleve, NE. and he was a member of the VFW Post 1192 in Duncan. He preached a good work ethic to everyone, and the importance of keeping your word. He considered everyone a friend. Dad would give you the shirt off his back if it would help you- and if he didn’t have a shirt on he would find you one.
He is survived by his children: Barbara Kennelly and husband Harry, Golden Valley, MN; James Brown and wife Anna, Snyder,OK; Sue Menges and husband John, Comanche; and David Brown, Grand Island, NE; one brother, Bill Brown, Gadsen, AL; and two sisters: Lafreida Hobbs and Cynthia Gilland, both of Purcell, OK; thirteen grandchildren: Christopher Brown, Montgomery, AL , Todd Brown, Newport News, VA, Peter and Stephen Kennelly, St Louis Park, MN; Bobby Brown, CO; Patricia Brown Menges, Alecia Menges, and Shawn Menges, all of Comanche; Nicole Burges and husband Chris, Killeen, TX; John and Jason Menges, Germany; Franzika Brown, Germany, and Asley Ahlf, Germany.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Letha, his parents, Rufus and Callie; a son, Thomas Jay Brown, a brother, Elwyn Gale (Pete) Brown, and a great-granddaughter, Letha K.
His soul has left us and gone to Heaven to be with God, and his loved ones above. Sammie (Dad) will be missed dearly by everyone who knew him.
Georgia Ellen McFarland – Comanche, OK

Georgia Ellen McFarland, age 76, of Comanche, passed away Monday evening, January 23, 2012 at the Meridian Nursing Home, following a brief illness. A graveside funeral service will be held Thursday January 26th at 11:00 a.m. at Fairlawn Cemetery with Bro. Dow Pannell officiating, under the direction of Comanche Funeral Home. Visitation will be Wednesday 9:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. The family will be receiving friends from 5:00-6:00 p.m.
Georgia was born April 29, 1935 in Comanche to George N. and Molly (Branch) Johnson. She and Fred McFarland were married August 14, 1950 in Wichita Falls, TX. Georgia loved gardening, sewing, and just being around people. Georgia enjoyed the company of her dogs, Skipper and Mitzi. She had a close circle of very dear friends.
She is survived by a daughter Mary Blacksher and husband Larry, Comanche; a son Freddie McFarland, Comanche; a granddaughter Jolene Griffin, Las Vegas, NV; three grandchildren: Paul, Freddy Ray, and Christina; several nieces, nephews, and many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred; a son, Jackie Ray McFarland; her parents; one brother; and two sisters.

R.E. Corbin – Velma, OK
September 3, 1919—January 15, 2012
Mr. Robert E. “R.E.” Corbin, a lifelong resident of Velma, peacefully passed away on Sunday evening, January 15, 2012 at the Healdton Mercy Hospital, at the age of 92. A funeral service will be held Wednesday, January 18th at 10:00 a.m. at Heritage Oaks Church of the Nazarene in Duncan. Interment will follow at Duncan City Cemetery, under the direction of Comanche Funeral Home. Visitation will be Tuesday from 1:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.
R.E. was born September 3, 1919 near Tussy, OK to Robert E. and Dora (Potts) Corbin. He proudly served his country in the United States Army in the 850th Infantry as an Aviation Engineer. R.E. was among the thousands who landed on Normandy Beach on June 6, 1944, (D-Day), serving overseas for four years without leave, and fighting in seven major battles in Europe. Upon his return to America the troops saw the Statue of Liberty and began applauding, very thankful to be returning to their home. On May 30, 1946 he and Zelma Ross were united in marriage at Marietta, OK. His grandson taught him to love football, his granddaughter taught him to love basketball, and he was an avid fan of the OU Sooners.
He is survived by his wife of over 65 years, Zelma, of the home; four children: Linda Gayle Robertson, Velma, Dennis G. Corbin and wife Janice, Flower Mound, TX, Gary Corbin and wife Lula, Austin, TX, and Wanda Crook and husband Danny, Velma; ten grandchildren: Lori Johnson and husband Andrew, Pam Robertson, Carolyn Aldridge, Dennis Don Corbin and wife Lisa, Jason Corbin, Crystal Glaszczak and husband Bryan, Jay Fuller, Christopher Corbin, Jody Crook, and Tracy Crook; seventeen great and great-great grandchildren; and many other relatives and close friends. R.E. was preceded in death by his parents, three children: Glen Dale Corbin, Floella Sue Corbin, and Dorris Corbin; one brother, and two sisters.
Jakie Rondell Seratte – Comanche, OK
Jakie Rondell Seratte, a lifelong resident of this area passed away Saturday evening, January 14, 2012 at Duncan Regional Hospital following a sudden illness. He was 74 years old. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, January 17th at 11:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Duncan, under the direction of Comanche Funeral Home. Visitation will be Monday 9:00-7:00.
Jakie was born August 31, 1937 at Duncan to Leonard and Lois (Busby) Seratte. He proudly served his country in the United States Army. He and Sonya Eady were married for 52 years. Jakie was a welder, learning his trade from his days of working for Koch Oil. He owned and operated Jake’s Welding Service as well as working for Halliburton Services. He loved horses, rodeos, watching his grandchildren play sports, and he enjoyed working. Jakie loved his church, where he and Sonya were members of Duncan First Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife Sonya, of the home in Meridian;a daughter, Angel Rylant and husband Rusty, Duncan; a son, Rondell Seratte and wife Janet, Cache; three brothers: Joe Seratte, Duncan, J.C. “Dude” Seratte and wife Lucille, Coleman, TX, and Riley Seratte, Goshan, CA; two sisters: Janice Wilson and June Price, both of Duncan; two sister-in-laws: Nancy Seratte, San Jacinto, CA, and Vera Seratte, Duncan; grandchildren: Jimmy, Alli, Jake, Matty, Ryan, and Rusty; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and three brothers: Jackie Dale Seratte, Bill Seratte, and Jimmy Don Seratte.
Yvonne Alexander Lewis – Duncan, OK
Marilyn Yvonne Lewis, a longtime resident of this community, peacefully passed away on Monday, January 9, 2012 at her home in Duncan. A funeral service will be held Thursday, January 12th at 1:00 p.m. at the Comanche First Baptist Church, with Bro. Ron Ogle officiating. Interment will follow at Fairlawn Cemetery, under the direction of Comanche Funeral Home.
Yvonne was born on December 7, 1921 in Comanche to David and Leanna (Yates) Alexander. She was a 1939 graduate of Comanche High School. Yvonne played clarinet in the band for five years. She was school queen her sophomore year. In high school she was a charter member of the teenage girls Mayflower Club, an offshoot of the Armada Club. She was also a charter member of the Epsilon Sigma Alpha Sorority organized in 1947. On June 14, 1941 she married the love of her life, Milton Lewis. In 1963 they moved to Merritt Island, Florida. Milton was employed by Pan American World Airlines Aerospace Division at Cape Canaveral , Florida. Yvonne was a substitute teacher at Kennedy Middle School for twelve years. Milton retired in 1977 and they returned to Comanche and purchased an Auto Parts Store. Yvonne was a AARP Income Tax Volunteer for over ten years.
Family was very important in Yvonne’s life. Every visit and phone call from family ended with hugs and I love you. She is survived by her husband, Milton, of the home; her children: Marilyn Sue Smith, Merritt Island, Florida, Ronald Jay Lewis, Duncan, and Patricia Ann Lewis, Duncan; grandchildren: Traci Rider, LeAnna Harris and husband Tony, Gahanna, OH, Krista McCray, Lawton, Jason Lewis, Twenty-nine Palms, CA, and Elizabeth Rylant and husband Ryan, Norman, OK; Great-grandchildren: Daeltun Rider, Norman, OK, Kyndell Rider, Duncan, Micah McCray, Lawton, Keegan McCray, Lawton, Noah Crouse, Killeen, TX, Ethan Harris, Gahanna, OH, Kyler Harris, Gahanna, OH, Devin Lewis, California, Reyd Rylant and Emersyn Rylant, Norman, OK; a nephew Jerry Alexander, Duncan, and niece Betty Penner, Balko, OK.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Leon Alexander and wife Elizabeth; an infant sister, Elaine; Infant niece, Dolores Alexander, nephew David Dean Alexander, and son-in-law J.B. Smith.

Bobby was born on January 30, 1967 to Ervin Gene and Bessie Pauline(Ferguson) Mills in Indio, California. He married Aundrea Bernadette Treece on March 30, 1991 in Comanche. He graduated from Richland High School. Bobby was working as an equipment operator for WW Grainger. He loved fishing, raising horses and NASCAR. Bobby was an avid OU Sooner/Dallas Cowboy fan. More than anything, he loved his family dearly.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Jenna Rene Mills; his father, Ervin Gene Mills; one brother, Billy Mills and one sister, Donna Bond.

Ruthie Jean Reed – Ardmore, OK
Ruthie Jean Reed, a former resident of Comanche peacefully passed away Thursday, November 17, 2011 at her home in Ardmore, OK. She was 74 years old. A funeral service will be held on Monday November 21st at 2:00 p.m. at the Comanche First Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Fairlawn Cemetery, under the direction of Comanche Funeral Home. Ruthie was born July 28, 1937 at Comanche to Claude E. and Erie Madge (Bell) Morris. She was a graduate of Comanche High School. Ruthie had made her home in Comanche and Duncan for most of her life. She moved to Ardmore about fifteen years ago. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Survivors include four daughters: Frankie Cary, Ardmore, OK; Kathy Gedik, Little Elm, TX; and Lisa Reed, and Joanie Reed, both of Terrell, TX; four sisters: Phyllis Lokey, Comanche; Brenda Beatty and husband Butch, Hennessey, OK; Carol Osterstock, Columbus, OH; and Linda Bowen, Ada, OK; six grandchildren: Jamie Romo and husband Carlos, Richardson, TX; Kelly Mangel and husband Daniel, Corinth, TX; Jill Stanley and husband Randy, Carrolton, TX; Jacob Tidwell, Comanche; Dustin Cary, Ardmore, OK; and Chris Reed, Terrell, TX; eight great grandchildren: Koby Tidwell, Christian Romo, Kalyssa Tidwell, Ava Romo, Peyton Stanley, Keaton Tidwell, Sophia Mangel, and Abigail Romo.
She was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters: Sandra Harris, Neva Jo Thrasher, Erie June Morris; and one brother, Bill Morris Jr.
Donald Wayne Coffey- Comanche, OK
Donald Wayne “Don” Coffey, of Comanche peacefully passed away, surrounded by family and very dear friends on Thursday evening, November 10, 2011 in Comanche, at the age of 56. A memorial service will be held Friday, November 18, 2011 at 2:00 pm at the Comanche Church of Christ.
Don was born February 9, 1955 in Duncan to Jim and Beverly (Hathcock) Coffey. He was a graduate of Comanche High School. He served his country in the United States Air Force. On July 15, 1989 he and Carol Kaye McDaniel were married in Wichita Falls, Texas. Don loved working on hot rods, hunting and fishing, and he was “the best storyteller” around.
He is survived by his wife Carol, of the home; two daughters: Melissa Richmond and husband Jay, of Comanche, and Megan O’Malley and fiancee’ Carl Dye, Comanche; a son Clayton Dorough, also of Comanche. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his grandparents: Edgar B. and Dessie Coffey, and Clarence and Sylvia Hathcock.
Luther Clifton Allen – Comanche, OK
Luther Clifton Allen, age 89, a lifelong resident of Comanche peacefully passed away early Friday morning, November 4, 2011 in Oklahoma City. A funeral service will be held on Monday, November 7th at 2:00 p.m. at the Friendship Baptist Church, with Bro. Dow Pannell officiating. Interment will follow at Fairlawn Cemetery, under the direction of Comanche Funeral Home. Visitation will be Saturday and Sunday 1:00-5:00 p.m. and Monday 9:00 a.m. until noon. The family will be receiving friends on Sunday afternoon from 2:00-3:00 p.m.
Clifton was born August 15, 1922 in Comanche to Luther E. and Mattie Lou (McCutchen) Allen. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army Air Corp during World War II. He and Edna Tilley were married on August 18, 1945 at Wichita Falls, TX. Clifton had worked as a machinist for Halliburton for many years. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, raising cattle, and spending time with his grandchildren.
Survivors include two sons: Samuel Allen, of Comanche, and Richard Allen and wife Emily, Duncan; two grandchildren: Tanya Bryant and husband Dustan, and Amber Allen and husband Walter Jones Sr;
six great grandchildren: Shantayah, Jayden, Nikalah, Walter Jones Jr, Hannan, and Levi.
Clifton was preceded in death by parents, his wife Edna, and a sister Mabel Bowles.

John Henry Jones passed away Friday morning, October 21, 2011 in Comanche at the age of 90. John Henry was born on July 28, 1921 to Ira Lee and George Henry Jones in Walters, OK. A memorial service will be held Saturday, October 29, 2011 at 2:00 pm at the Highland Park Baptist Church in Duncan with Jerry Couch officiating. Survivors include one son, John Jones and his wife, Judy of Raleigh, N.C.; five grandchildren , Lawrence Jones and his wife, Annette of Burkburnett, TX, Christopher Jones and his wife, Stacy of Coweta, Ok, Michelle Jones of St. Louis, Mo, Janyne Kizer and her husband, Kevin of Raleigh, N.C. and Daniel Jones of Bagram, Afghanistan. He is also survived by three great grandchildren.

Deloris Mae Parker, longtime Comanche resident, peacefully passed away early Friday morning, October 14, 2011 at the Meridian Nursing Home. She was 80 years old. Deloris was born January 25, 1931 at Lambert, OK to George and Nellie Agnes (McConnell) Rowlan. She and Homer Parker were united in marriage on July 30, 1949 at Cherokee, OK She enjoyed crafting, cooking, sewing, and poetry, but more than anything else she loved spending time with her family. She cherished her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband Homer, of the home; five children: Dennis Parker and wife Sharon, Comanche; Connie Rich and husband Duane, Cement, OK; Johnnie Parker and wife Christina, Duncan; Bobbie Parker and wife Brandi, Duncan; and David Parker, South Dakota; grandchildren: Amy Norman and husband Clint, Walters, OK; Annette Boatright and husband Larry, Sugar Grove, IL; Tina Grisham and husband Steven, Pearland, TX; Lori Morris and husband Wayne, Comanche; Danny Parker, Comanche; Amanda Eberhart and husband Brandon, Central High; and Kassi Parker, Duncan; a brother, Dewey Rowlan, and a sister Geri Kirshner; and nine great-grandchildren.

Nioma was born June 18, 1921 at Terral to George Franklin and Cumie Roxie (Peterson) Locke. She and William Clinton Herron were married in 1937 at Terral. He preceded her in death in 1965. Nioma was a member of the Terral Assembly of God Church. She had worked for over 25 years as a waitress at the Peach Orchard.
She is survived by her son Billy Ray Herron and wife Robin, Royse City, Texas; a daughter Loretta Brem, Mesquite, Texas; two sisters: Delma Bussey and Charlene Echols, both of Terral; two grandchildren: Judy McConnell and Shirl Brem, Mesquite, Texas; five great- grandchildren: Jarett, Jordan, Brianna, Cody, and Chase; and two great-great grandchildren: Emmerson and Kingston. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband.

A graveside funeral service was held Wednesday October 5th at 2:00 p.m. in Addington Cemetery with Bro. Charles Parker officiating, under the direction of Comanche Funeral Home.
Jimmie was born February 11, 1933 at the home place on the Stephens/Jefferson County line to Gene and Lovie (Brown) Palmer. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, and he loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and also his two dogs, Tojo and D.J.
Survivors include his children: Greg Palmer and wife Debbie, of Comanche, Mike Palmer, of Comanche, Jerry Ray Poe, of Midwest City, and Jammie Palmer; five grandchildren: Steven Welch, Shawn Howard, Michelle Howard, Danny Joe Howard and Damian Palmer; three great-grandchildren: Montana, Logan, and Shayla; an aunt Mary Boston, and an uncle Bert Brown; and two cousins who were raised like a brother to Jmmie: Bob Brown and Lynn Brown; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Jimmie was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 46 years, JoAnn; two daughters: Eyvonne Howard and Betty JoAnn Williams; a son Ed Poe; and a special cousin Jay Brown.

Wanda was born January 24, 1956 in Farmington, New Mexico to C.L. and Louise (Reeves) Gordanier. She came to Comanche more than twenty years to make her home. She had worked as a nurse for many years. Wanda enjoy arts and crafts.
She is survived by her husband Jerry Coy, of the home; two sons: Gerald Martin of Comanche, and Mark Lewis and wife LaShawnda of Oklahoma City; a daughter Vera Yeager and husband Buddy of Fremont, Nebraska; a brother Sid Gordanier and wife Janice, Magdalena, New Mexico; two sisters: Debbie Martin of Comanche, and Vera Cox and husband Richard, Wilcox, Arizona; three grandchildren: Kelsey Yeager, Brandon Yeager, and Nicole Martin; a sister in law Ann Gordanier, Cortez, Colorado; and many other relatives and friends. Bill Q. Bailey - Comanche, OK
Bill Q. Bailey, 82 of Comanche died Wednesday, September 28, 2011 in the Duncan Regional Hospital, following a short illness. A funeral service will be held Saturday, October 1st at 2:00 p.m. at Patterson Avenue Baptist Church in Comanche. Interment will follow at Fairlawn Cemetery, under the direction of Comanche Funeral Home. Visitation will be Friday 9:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. and Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until noon. The family will be receiving friends Friday evening from 5:00-6:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
Bill was born December 9, 1928 to Kate and A.J. Bailey. He graduated from Comanche High School in 1948, where he was an outstanding athlete. In 1947 he was the highest scoring running back in the State of Oklahoma. On May 29, 1948 he married Louise Rhodes. He served with the United States Air Force from 1950 through 1953. Bill worked at Sunray Refinery for 38 years retiring in 1983.
He loved life and he loves his family. He loved to play golf, watch OU Sooners and Dallas Cowboys football and was an avid quail hunter. He spent many hours watching his kids, grandkids, and great grandkids play sports. He never met a stranger and everyone he met loved him. He was a very kindhearted man and was always willing to do anything for his family and friends. His warm heart and mischievous grin will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Louise, of the home; son Billy Bob Bailey and wife, Carole, of Duncan, daughter Bea Butler and husband Randy, of Ratliff City, Grandchildren Colby Butler and wife Kristy, of Duncan, Sarah Butler of Edmond, Chad Bailey, of Duncan, Ryan Bailey, of Duncan, great grandsons Braylen and Bowen Butler, of Duncan and numerous extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Virginia May and brothers AJ Bailey, Charles Bailey, and Jack Bailey.

Ernest Lawton Headrick Jr., a longtime resident of Comanche peacefully passed away early Sunday morning, September 11, 2011 at his home west of town, at the age of 81. Ernest was born April 1, 1930 at Addington to Ernest and Blanche (Frank) Headrick. He graduated from Claypool High School in 1949. He and Margaret Dickey were married on January 20, 1951 at Wichita Falls, TX. He proudly served his country in the Unites States Air Force. Ernest worked for many years at Halliburton in the machine shop. He enjoyed attending all the local sporting events. He loved collecting antique watches, guitars, and old cars.
Survivors include his wife, Margaret, of the home; three sons: Roger Headrick and wife Nancy, Bedford, TX; Dick Headrick and wife Ann, Duncan; and Tom Headrick and wife Dobie, Comanche; two grandsons: Michael Headick, Bedford, TX, and Chris Headrick, Dallas, TX; three granddaughters: Andi Headrick Ward and husband Erik, Plano, TX; Myka Headrick, Duncan; and Alison Headrick, Waco, TX; a great granddaughter, Lillian Headrick, Bedford, TX; one sister Patty Behrens, Waurika; and a special nephew, Rick Helm, Duncan; and many other relatives and friends.

Richard Lowell Poyner, 67, of Hastings, Oklahoma, formerly of Urbana, died on Tuesday, September 6, 2011, at Southwestern Medical Center in Lawton, Oklahoma.
He was born March 13, 1944, in Earl Park, Indiana, a son of Erton and Mildred Poyner. He is survived by 2 daughters, Terina (William) Thomas of Hastings, Oklahoma, and Angela Snyder of Paxton, Illinois; 4 sisters; and 4 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers, a granddaughter, and his beloved wife, Patricia Poyner.
Richard was a caring husband, father, and grandfather; he enjoyed fishing, watching Illini basketball, and spending time with his grandchildren.

Cecil was born December 31, 1936 in Pawhuska, OK to Ura Lee and Aline Laura ( Duckworth) Harris. He and Peggy Darlin Anderson were married on September 12, 1955 in Comanche. She preceded him in death on April 29, 1994. Cecil worked as a field representative for NAPA Auto Parts.
Cecil is survived by two daughters: Darla Gates and husband Tim, Metaline, WA, and Jennifer Lewis and husband Justin, Wichita Falls, TX; three grandchildren: Jolene and Neal Salazar, Spokane, WA, and Miles Lewis, Wichita Falls, TX; two great grandchildren: Sarina and Tyler Salazar, Spokane, WA; and a brother, Carl Harris, Deer Park, WA. Ray Burnell Martin, a longtime resident of Terral passed away on Saturday, August 20, 2011 at Waurika, at the age of 86. Ray was born October 5, 1924 in Terral to Oliver and Stella (Williams) Martin. He married Alice Murrell Keith on November 1, 1942 at Terral. He had served on the Terral School Board and also the Terral City Council, and was a member of the Chamber of Commerce. He and Clifford Duke co-owned the Lumber Yard in Terral. Ray was very well respected in his community.
He is survived by ; two sons: Harold Martin and wife Midge, Terral, and Glen Martin and wife Kay, also of Terral; two daughters: Beverly Blevins and husband Eddie, Terral, and Glenna Gore and husband Cary, Waurika; 10 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild; a brother, Roy Glen Martin, Edmond; and a sister, Margie Jackson, Terral.
Ray was preceded in death by his wife—Murrell on July 1, 2011, his parents, a “special brother”-Nelson Martin and one grandson.
Donald Brown Howard—Claypool, OK
Donald Brown Howard, a life long resident of the Claypool community, passed away Tuesday August 9, 2011 at Mercy Memorial Hospital in Ardmore, Oklahoma. Don was 88 years old. Funeral services will be held at the Ringling United Methodist Church on Friday, August 12, at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow in the Ringling Cemetery. Visitation will be at the Alexander Funeral Home in Ringling beginning at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday. The family will be receiving friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Thursday evening at Alexander Funeral Home.
Don was born August 5, 1923, at Claypool to Wilton and Jessie Joe (Brown) Howard. He graduated from Ringling High School in 1941 where he was a member of the boxing team and served as FFA president. In September, 1944, he joined the United States Army. He served in the Philippine Islands in the Asiatic Pacific Theater campaigns. While there, Don received the Purple Heart for wounds suffered in the battle of Ipo Dam, on Luzon Island. He received the Asiatic Pacific Theater campaign ribbon with two bronze stars, Philippine Liberation medal with one bronze star, and the Army of Occupation of Japan ribbon. He also received the Distinguished Unit Badge Victory ribbon with three overseas service bars.
On December 25, 1946, Don and Vella Key Mathers were united in marriage at the Methodist parsonage in Ringling. They made their home on the family ranch at Claypool, a small community between Ringling and Waurika in Jefferson county. Don enjoyed the hard work of ranch life and he shared that joy with his grandchildren and great grandchildren, often taking them in the feed truck for a morning of fun with "Papa Don". Don was actively involved with the daily management of Howard Cattle Company, a business established by his grandfather, Noah Howard, in the late 1800's. Until 4 months ago, he worked along side his two sons, Jim and Steve, doing the book work, buying and selling cattle.
Service to his community was an important part of Don's life. He was a Master Mason, member of the American Legion, served on the school boards at Claypool and at Ringling for 13 years, and served on bank boards at Duncan and Lone Grove. He was a member of the Ringling United Methodist church, serving as board of Trustees chairman. Don was always a great supporter of the junior livestock sale and the Ringling Blue Devils.
Don most enjoyed service to his profession. He was a life-time member of the Oklahoma Cattlemen's Association, where he was honored as Cattlemen of the Year in 1992. He held memberships in the National Cattlemen's Beef Association, Kansas Livestock Assn., Texas Cattle Feeders Assn., and the Texas Southwest Cattle Raisers Association, where he received the honor of "Lifetime Ranching Heritage Award" presented in Houston, Texas in March, 2000. He credits his family for these recognitions and accomplishments.
Don is survived by his wife of 64 years, Vella Key, of their home in Claypool; four children: Jessie Kay Moore and husband, Mike, Ringling; James Wilton Howard and wife, Betty, Claypool; Dona Lynn Brooks and husband Mike, Claypool; and Steven Donald Howard and wife Kelly, Claypool; 14 grandchildren, Mika Gerken, Bill Moore, Julie McDonald, Jana Gandy, Danielle Neble, Alisa Howard, Lauren Southward, Carson Brooks, Stevanna Campbell, Waco Howard, Jessie Hughes, Kade Howard, Lakin Howard and Rance Howard. 25 great-grandchildren and a sister, Doris Howard Worley, Ringling; a special nephew, Randy Howard also of Ringling.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers: Melvin Howard and Paul Howard; two sisters Ruth Lester and Hazel LeValley; and a beloved grandson, Dalton Steve Howard.
Grandsons and grandsons'-in-laws will serve as pall bearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Jerry Shelton, Jerry Sutton, Robert York, George Foote, Biff Jackson, Jim Patton, and all the great grandchildren.

Wandle “W.G.” Cox, of Comanche, passed away early Tuesday morning, July 26, 2011 at the Meridian Nursing Home, at the age of 89. Burial will follow at Fairlawn Cemetery, under the direction of Comanche Funeral Home. Visitation will be Wednesday 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. and Thursday 9:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. The family will be receiving friends from 6:00-7:00 p.m. on Thursday evening.
W.G. was born October 5, 1921 at Comanche, to John E. and Maude Ella (Webb) Cox. He and Vonciel Belcher were married on October 17, 1942 at Comanche. In 1957 they moved to Tucson, AZ. They relocated back to Oklahoma in 1975, and eventually settled in Comanche in 1981. He enjoyed working, especially with his horses. W.G. was a member of the American Cutting Horse Association, and the American Quarter Horse Association.
Survivors include his wife Vonciel, of the home; one son, Randy Cox and wife Erlinda, Tucson, AZ; and one sister, Joyce Lindesmith, Vancouver, WA. He was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.

Carla was born December 23, 1964 at Henryetta, OK to Richard W. and Cleta Darlene (Pfau) Arnhart. She was a graduate of Hanna High School. Carla moved to Comanche in 1995. She and Don Hagan were united in marriage on February 12, 2003 in Wichita Falls, TX. Carla loved antiques, listening to bluegrass music, taking part in the Old West Production gunfights, but most of all she loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren!
Survivors include her husband Don, of Comanche; Her children: Ashley Mahamed and husband Shane, Marlow; Ricky Haley, Eufala; Rodney Hagan and wife Ashley, Ft. Earl Jack McClennen – Duncan, OK
Earl Jack McClennen, 72, of Duncan went to be with his heavenly Father on Wednesday, July 13, 2011. A funeral service will be held Saturday, July 16th at 10:00 a.m. at Fair Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Fairlawn Cemetery, under the direction of Comanche Funeral Home. Visitation will be 12:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and Friday 9:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. The family will be receiving friends on Friday evening from 7:00-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Jack was born February 22, 1939 in Comanche to Earl and Murray McClennen. Jack rodeoed and calf roped in his early days. He graduated from Empire High School, and attended Cameron University. Jack retired from Haliburton after 27 years of service at the truck shop, and was supervisor of production on off shore vessels. From there he went on to develop his love of horse racing and ranching. His values were family and horses. Jack was active in all aspects in his hobby- breeding, and breaking horses. He won many races and was well known throughout Oklahoma for his accomplishments. Jack was known for saying “I can not tell you if a horse can run just by looking at it, but I can tell you if he can’t.” I He and Joyce Askins were united in marriage on September 20, 1958 at Duncan.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Joyce, of the home; his sister, Julie Bacon and husband James, Comanche; brothers: Ronald McClennen and wife Rosalie, Comanche; his twin brother, Mack McClennen, Duncan, and Dan McClennen, El Paso, TX; his children: Troy and wife Madonna, Raceland, LA, Karyn of Edmond, and Sharyn, of Duncan; and Billy Wright and wife Janet, Comanche; grandchildren: Tanner and Meranda McClennen, Marlow; Connie Grant, Ardmore; Kassidy Brinkley, Garrett Taylor and Jennifer Underhill, all of Edmond; and Derek and Cody Plaisance, Raceland, LA; One great-grandson Jameson Brinkley, Edmond.
Jack loved Chisolm Trail Cowboy Church. He accepted Jesus as his Savior several years ago. Jack enjoyed going to his special church and relished his friendships from there.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister-in-law, Kathy McClennen.

Bertha “Brownie” Reynolds – Comanche, OK
Bertha “Brownie” Reynolds, a longtime resident of the Comanche community peacefully passed away on Monday morning, July 11, 2011 at Waurika. She was 88 years old. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday July 13th at 10:00 a.m. at the Comanche Funeral Home, with Bro. Dan Standifer officiating. Burial will follow in Fairlawn Cemetery, under the direction of Comanche Funeral Home. Visitation will be Tuesday 9:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m.
Brownie was born November 11, 1922 at Leon, OK to James Albert and Martha Josiphine (Harris) Brown. She graduated from Burneyville High School. In 1943 she enlisted in the United States Navy, where she served as an Aviation Machinist Mate. Brownie was stationed in New York, where she helped move planes in and out. She also drove a gas truck, and fueled the airplanes. She was a member of the WAVES (Women Accepted for Volunteer Emergency Service). After her discharge in 1946 she married Hanford Reynolds on December 12, 1946 at the Waurika First Baptist Church. She worked as an LPN for over 38 years. She was a member of the American Legion, Oklahoma Board of Nurse Registration, and the American Red Cross.
She was preceded in death by her husband Hanford, in 2002; 8 brothers, and 5 sisters. Brownie is survived by 20 nieces and nephews, and 50 great nieces and nephews; also two sister-in-laws: Mattie Esther Gartan, and Lois Brown.
Lindley Dale “Lin” Chaney – Comanche, OK
Lindley Dale “Lin” Chaney, 46, of Comanche passed away Friday evening, June 17, 2011 at the Comanche County Memorial Hospital in Lawton. A funeral service will be held Monday, June 20th at 11:00 a.m. at Ray of Hope Church, with Bro. Dow Pannell, and Bro. Dee Bowen officiating. Burial will follow at Fairlawn Cemetery, under the direction of Comanche Funeral Home. Visitation will be on Sunday from 10:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. The family will be receiving friends from 5:00-6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Lin was born January 6, 1965 at Duncan, to Oscar Dale and Maxine (Bowen) Chaney. He had lived in the Comanche community all of his life, where he graduated from Comanche High School. He loved playing the guitar, singing, working with cattle, doing yard work, but more than anything he loved spending time with his family. He was a “momma’s boy”.
He is survived by his parents, Oscar and Maxine Chaney, Comanche; a son Lindley “Lin” Chaney Jr. and wife Kacy, Duncan; two stepchildren: Daniel Elam and Kirsten Onco, both of Lawton; two half sisters: Stephanie Thomason and husband Jeff, and Amy Parker and husband Chris, Ada, OK; three grandchildren: Eric Lindley Chaney, Taylor Lynn Chaney, and Kamren Dawn Chaney; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, and his uncle, Bill Chaney.

Lloyd Nelson Martin, a lifelong resident of Terral, passed away on Saturday afternoon, June 25, 2012 at the Nocona Nursing Home in Nocona, TX at the age of 87. A funeral service will be held Tuesday June 28th at 10:00 a.m. at the Terral Church of Christ, with Larry Jackson officiating. Burial will follow at Terral Cemetery, under the direction of Terral Funeral Home. Visitation will be Monday 10:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. The family will be receiving friends from 6:00-7:00 p.m.
Nelson was born July 2, 1923 in Terral to Perry Columbus and Ida Belle (Jones) Martin. He and Wilda J. Gilmore were united in marriage on October 14, 1942 in Waurika. Nelson was a lifelong farmer. He was a retired custodian from Terral Public Schools.
Survivors include two sons: Bob Martin and wife Sherlyn of Wichita Falls, Tx and Ricky Martin and wife Cynthia of Terral; a brother, Ray Martin, Terral; a son in law, Joe Ezzell, Wichita Falls, TX; 6 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
Nelson was preceded in death by 2 daughters: Barbara Ford and Betty Ezzell; 2 granddaughters: Kimberly Martin and Hayley Martin; 1 great-great grandson, Brayden; and twelve brothers and sisters.
Serving as pallbearers will be Harold Martin, Glenn Martin, Weldon Martin, Dustin Bryant, Aaron Rhoades, and Brent Martin. Honorary bearer will be Harold Allen.
Alice Murrell Martin--Terral, OK
Alice Murrell Martin, a longtime resident of Terral passed away on Friday, July 1, 2011 at Waurika, at the age of 86. Murrell was born March 30, 1925 at Quitaque, Texas to Clyde and Alta (Sanders) Keith. She married Ray Martin on November 1, 1942 at Terral. They made their home in Terral, where she was a homemaker. Murrell was a member of the Terral Church of Christ. She loved gardening, cooking, and playing with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband, Ray, of the home; two sons: Harold Martin and wife Midge, Terral, and Glen Martin and wife Kay, also of Terral; two daughters: Beverly Blevins and husband Eddie, Terral, and Glenna Gore and husband Cary, Waurika; one sister, Winnie Ewing, Chino, California; 10 grandchildren, and 18 great-grandchildren.
Murrell was preceded in death by her parents, 5 brothers, 3 sisters, and one grandson.
Elton McClennen – Comanche, OK
Jinks Elton McClennen, a lifelong resident of Comanche peacefully passed away on Sunday evening, July 3, 2011 at Duncan Regional Hospital. He was 82 years old. A funeral service will be held Thursday, July 7th at 10:00 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Comanche, with Thomas Q. Robbins officiating. Burial will follow at Fairlawn Cemetery, under the direction of Comanche Funeral Home. Visitation will be Tuesday 1:00-7:00 p.m. and on Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m.
Elton was born April 14, 1929 west of Comanche to Jinks and Sybil (Colman) McClennen. He and Eleanor Delores Howell were united in marriage on September 14, 1950. They made their home in Comanche, where he began working at Sun Ray Refinery. He later began working at Halliburton as a machinist, and then as a supervisor foreman where he retired after 30 years. Elton was an active member of The First United Methodist Church where he had served as Sunday School Supt. and Church Treasurer for numerous years. He was a member of the Comanche Lions Club. He always enjoyed putting out the flags around town for Flag Day. He enjoyed fishing, but more than anything he loved spending time with his family, especially the grandkids and great-grandkids- the loves of his life.
Survivors include his wife of sixty years, Eleanor, of the home; a daughter Karen Cloud and husband Mike, Comanche; a son Craig McClennen and wife Teresa, Chickasha; one sister, Faye Huggins and husband Dave, Mt. Shasta, California; four grandchildren: Brent Cloud, Marci Wylie, Barbi McClennen, and Jessica Crocker; and four great-grandchildren: Aaron Cloud, Rebecca Cloud, McKenna Wylie, and Regan Wylie; a daughter-in-law Gail Cloud; and numerous other relatives and dear friends.
Roland Dean Martin – Comanche, OK
Roland Dean Martin, formerly of Comanche passed away Thursday morning, May 26, 2011 at the Duncan Regional Hospital, at the age of 77. A funeral service will be held Tuesday May 31st at 10:00 a.m. at the Comanche Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Fairlawn Cemetery, under the direction of Comanche Funeral Home. Visitation will be Saturday, Sunday, and Monday 1:00-5:00 p.m. The family will be receiving friends from 4:00-5:00 p.m. on Monday evening.
Roland was born May 31, 1933 at Lawton, OK to Robert Lee (R.L.) and Thelma (Reeder) Martin. He grew up in the Comanche community. He was a great amateur boxer and was Golden Gloves Champion for Southern Oklahoma and North Texas in 1961-62. He married Joyce Wilson, and they had a daughter Rhonda. He later married Theta Goldenstein, and raised two sons, Frank and John. She passed away in 1993. In 1996 he married Shirley Cryer. Roland enjoyed bowling, fishing, playing bingo, and going to the casino. He was a member of the Moose Lodge. In 1974 he and his family moved to Lone Grove to be closer to his work, at Uniroyal Tire.
Survivors include a daughter, Rhonda Bozanic and husband Brad, Tucson, AZ; two sons: Frank Goldenstein and wife Glenda, Marietta, OK, and John Goldenstein, Lone Grove, OK; three sisters: Arywanda McLain, Rush Springs, OK, Dee Firanski and husband Tony, Hinton, OK, Susan Ulrich and husband Reford, Cache, OK; many grandchildren, 1 great grandchild, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Roland was preceded in death by his parents, R.L. and Thelma Martin; two brothers, San Martin and J.C. Martin; and his wife Theta.
Garry David “Punkin” Alsup- Nocona, TX
Garry David “Punkin” Alsup, 56, of Nocona passed away on May 7, 2011 at his home. A funeral service will be held Tuesday May 10, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at the Terral First Baptist Church, with Bro. He was born September 11, 1954 at Nocona to Wade and Tooter (Hinsley) Alsup. He grew up in Fleetwood, OK. He started driving a tractor when he was 5 years old. He graduated from Terral High School in 1972. Punkin worked for Chicago Rock Island and Burlington Northern Railroad for many years, and then Texas Turbo Jet of Nocona. He made his home in the Nocona area.
Survivors include his mother, Tooter, Fleetwood, OK; two brothers: Barry Alsup, and Chris Alsup and wife Ginger, both of Terral; a sister Teresa Tallon and husband Rick, also of Terral; numerous nieces and nephews; a special friend, Rowdy, his dog; and a host of other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his daddy, Wade Alsup, in 2003; and his grandparents Buster and Lizzie Alsup, and Howard and Donnie Hinsley.

Sarah Mae Large—Duncan, Ok
Sarah Mae Large was born November 7, 1915, in Arkalon, a small town near Liberal, Kansas, to Charles Edwin Long and Julie May (Latimer) Long. She passed away peacefully at home in Del City, OK, at the age 95 on May 7, 2011, due to complications of a stroke. Sarah lived in Kansas until the family moved to Frog Level, a small town near DeQueen, in Arkansas. She had two siblings, Charles and Mamie. The family moved to Addington, OK, after her mother passed away. Sarah married Cass Edward (Ed) Arnold in 1934 and they were blessed with six children. Her husband Ed passed away in 1957. Sarah Mae married Wade Large in 1960, who had three sons. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Wade, sister Mamie Ethel Murray, brother-in-law Clifford Murray, son Johnny Edward Arnold, daughter-in-law Joyce Arnold, daughter-in-law Sue Arnold, son-in-law Mel Courter, step-son Trenton, step-son Roy and grand-son Brad English. She is survived by brother Charles Long (Joanne), daughters Beulah Mae Courter, Rose Ann Hayashi (Max), Nancy Lynn Lester (Steve), sons Charles Albert, James “Jim” Aubrey (Vicki), step-son Tracey Large (Syvenna), and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Sarah loved traveling, gardening, reading, and visiting museums or botanical gardens. To the very end of her conscious life, she continued to read about the things that interested her; current events, historical events and famous people. Sarah, later in life, came to adore cats and adopted a stray. She also dearly loved her church. Most of all, Sarah was devoted to her immediate and extended family members and loved having them visit and having big family meals at home or at restaurants. The family wishes to acknowledge the loving and compassionate care provided to Sarah by daughter and son-in law, Nancy and Steve, at their home in Del City. Services will be held at the Comanche Funeral Home on Wednesday May 11, 2011 at 2:00 PM with interment to follow at the Fairlawn Cemetery in Comanche. Bill M. Morris – Comanche, OK
Mr. Bill M. Morris, a lifelong resident of Comanche, and 33 year employee of Halliburton, peacefully passed away Thursday evening, May 5, 2011 at his home. He was 87 years old. Bill was born November 30, 1923 in Addington, Oklahoma to John Arthur and Mamie (Blalock) Morris. He and Elizabeth Absher were united in marriage on November 13, 1942 in Oklahoma City. Bill proudly served his country in the United States Army Air Corps, stationed at Hickam Air Field in Oahu, Hawaii. He was a longtime member at Patterson Avenue Baptist Church where he had served as a deacon. Bill was a devoted Christian and loving husband and father. He loved hunting, fishing, tinkering, telling and retelling stories to his family and friends.
Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Elizabeth, of the home; five children: Billy K. Morris and wife Rachel, Comanche, LaVonn A. Williams and husband Zack, Edmond, Oklahoma, Terry L. Morris and wife Libby, Norman, Oklahoma, Melissa G. Allin and husband Mark, Comanche, and Jill E. Black and husband Mark, Galveston, Texas; one brother, Bob Morris and wife Sue, Waurika; 11 grandchildren: Brian Morris, Wayne Morris, Randy Morris, Michelle Collier, Michael Morris, Aaron Morris, Victoria Morris, Christopher McCollum, Rachel Landis, Brandi Brace, and Steven Brace; twenty one great grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister Flossie Thompson and a grandson, Zack Williams.
Joe A. Fair--Waurika, OK
Joe A. Fair of Waurika left this life on Tuesday May 3, 2011 after a short illness. He was 87. Services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Friday May 6, 2011 at Corum Baptist Church. Rev. Bruce Humphries, Pastor of Corum Baptist Church and Rev. Jeremy Fair, Joe’s oldest grandson, Pastor of Arlington Presbyterian Church, Arlington, Texas will officiate. Burial will be at Fairlawn Cemetery will military honors. Visitation will be Thursday 9:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. The family will be receiving friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Joe was born on January 13, 1924 to Claude and Cordie Fullerton Fair in Grant, Oklahoma. He grew up in Delta County, Texas. He married Jean Council on October 6, 1951 in Arkansas. Joe and Jean moved to Oklahoma in 1956. In 1961, they moved to Geronimo where they raised their family. In 1989, Joe built a cabin near Waurika Lake so he could fish more. Joe and Jean eventually made it their permanent home.
Joe was a simple, plainspoken man with a generous spirit who taught his children and grandchildren the importance of personal character and hard work. He was a carpenter by trade. He loved to fish, build things, and work in his garden. Joe loved spending time with his family.
Joe served in the Philippine Islands during WWII with the U.S. Army. Joe was self employed as a building contractor for many years and retired in 1979 from the Carpenter shop at Fort Sill. He was a member of the Corum Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife of the home, two sisters, Marie Lee of Dallas, Texas and Geraldine Hancock of Emory, Texas. He is also survived by his four children: one daughter and son-in-law, Vanda and Jay Quarles of Lawton, three sons and two daughters-in-law, Dwight Fair of Waurika, Randell and Donna Fair,of Duncan and Steve and Debbie Fair of Duncan. He is also survived by seven grandchildren and spouses:, Jeremy and Kimberly Fair, Stacy and Michael Morgan, Brandon Fair, Bryan and Dawn Fair, Melissa and Jesse Neugebauer, Jason Quarles and Brin Fair and three great grandchildren:Caedmon, Creth and Cale Fair, and many nieces and nephews. Joe is also survived by special friends, Marvin and Bonnie McConnell, Darla Foley, and his Corum Baptist Church family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, and two sisters.
Pallbearers will be grandsons and grandsons in law: Jason Quarles, Brandon Fair, Bryan Fair, Brin Fair, Michael Morgan and Jesse Neugebauer.

Gladys Ruby Curtis - Comanche, OK
Gladys Ruby Curtis peacefully passed away on Saturday evening, April 23, 2011 in the Meridian Nursing Home at the age of 98. Gladys was born April 15, 1913 in Nocona, TX to John Wesley and Della Phene (Starkey) Goss. She was a lifelong resident of this area. She and Robert Trout Curtis were married August 16, 1932 in Waurika, OK. Gladys loved gardening, flowers, and collecting rocks but more than anything she loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
She is survived by three sons: Billy Curtis and wife Joan, Geronimo, OK; Johnny Curtis and wife Rita, Comanche; and Bobby Curtis, Duncan; three daughters: Joyce Bewley and husband Junior , Enid, OK; Ina Lawson, Comanche; and Glenda Baker, Duncan; Eleven grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Gladys was preceded in death by her parents , her husband Robert, in May 2002, 2 daughters: Reba June Curtis and Deloris Ann Curtis; 3 brothers and seven sisters.
Mildred “Ozelle” McCullough – Comanche, OK
Mrs. Mildred Ozelle McCullough, a longtime resident of the Meridian community peacefully passed away Saturday morning, April 9, 2011 at Integris Baptist Hospital in Oklahoma City, at the age of 81.
A funeral service will be held Tuesday April 12th at 10:00 a.m. at the Comanche First Baptist Church with Bro. Randy Southerland officiating. Interment will be at 1:30 p.m. at the Ninnekah Cemetery, under the direction of Comanche Funeral Home. Visitation will be Monday 9:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home from 6:00-7:00 p.m.
Ozelle was born March 26, 1930 in Ninnekah to Magness B. and Willie Etta (Conn) Boswell. She graduated from Ninnekah High School in 1948 and later graduated from Oklahoma College for Women in Chickasha. She married James G. “Bud” McCullough on August 6, 1963 in Duncan. He preceded her in death on Feb. 15, 2005. They moved to Meridian in 1970. She was a member of the Comanche First Baptist Church.
Ozelle loved gardening, reading, crocheting, quilting, cross stitching, and taking care of her cats, however more than anything else she loved being able to spend time with her family and friends.
She is survived by her children: Doug McCullough and wife Carolyn, Wichita, KS; David McCullough and wife Pam Wagner, Lewisville, TX; Jim McCullough and wife Janatha, Justin, TX; Diane McCullough, Oklahoma City, OK; and Lori Sims and husband Kevin, Rockport, TX; a sister Billye June Griswold, Ninnekah, OK; six grandchildren: Chase Rivera, Ashley Sims, Kilee Sims, Gage Sims, Grace McCullough, and Paxton McCullough; and many other relatives and friends.
Ozelle was preceded in death by her husband; her parents, and one sister, Lou Ann Smith.

Mr. Edward Robert "Bob" McBride, age 76 peacefully passed away at his home north of Comanche, on Tuesday March 22, 2011 following a brief illness. Bob was born May 7, 1934 at Waurika, OK to Charles William and Thelma (Roberts) McBride.
He enlisted in the United States Air Force on September 19, 1951 and proudly served his country until his retirement on September 30, 1977. He achieved the rank of Master Sergeant. Bob served in Texas, Georgia, Japan, Korea, Iceland, Kansas, Spain, South Carolina, Vietnam, Guam, and California. On October 4, 1954 he married Eloisa (Lisa) Curiel at Del Rio, TX. They raised 5 children. After his retirement they returned to this area. He was an avid OU football fan, loved to fish, and loved spending time with his family. Edward was very proud to be a U.S. Air Force veteran, receiving the Bronze Star, Meritorious Service Medal, First Oak Leaf Cluster; and the Air Force Commendation Medal, Second Oak Leaf Cluster.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Thelma McBride; 2 sisters: Beverly Ann Silkwood, and Bettye Jo Williams; and one brother Jimmie Charles McBride.
Bob is survived by his wife Lisa, of the home; his children: Michael Lynn McBride and wife Linda, Comanche; Darlene Caldwell and husband Dean, Duncan; Sandra Dee Ruiz, Dover, DE; Sally Marie Caldwell and husband David, Springhill, TN; and Jeremy Michael McBride and wife Julie, Plano, TX; a sister-in-law Linda McBride; 2 grandchildren: April Marie Caldwell, Springhill, TN, and Daniel Ruiz, Dover, DE; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
Don Rue – Loco, OK
Mr. Gerald Don Rue, of Loco passed away Wednesday evening, March 16, 2011 at the Duncan Regional Hospital, at the age of 74. A funeral service will be held Saturday, March 19th at 2:00 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Comanche, with Nathan Mills officiating. Burial will follow at the Loco Cemetery, under the direction of Comanche Funeral Home. Visitation will be Friday 9:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. and Saturday 10:00 a.m. until noon. The family will be receiving friends from 6:00-7:00 p.m. Friday evening.
Don was born February 8, 1937 at Graham, Oklahoma to Barnet and Beattie (Nickle) Rue. He grew up in the Loco community and graduated from Loco High School in 1955. Don and Dorothy June Veneck were married on June 6, 1959 at Mustang, Oklahoma. He had a Masters Degree in Education, retiring in 1986 from Henrietta Independent School District, in Henrietta, Texas. After his retirement Don and Dorothy returned to Loco to the family farm. Don enjoyed farming and ranching, woodworking, and was always helping out others. He was a very active member of the First United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife Dorothy, of the home; 3 children: James W. Rue and Rhonda of Ponder, Texas; Carolyn J. Miller, Weatherford, Texas; and Peter Rue and Lisa of Southlake, Texas; six grandchildren: Ashley Rue, Weatherford, Texas; Grant Miller, Weatherford, Texas; Madison Miller, Weatherford, Texas; Amy Haws, Comanche; Marcy Gibbs, Duncan; and Travis McReynolds, Duncan; one brother Franklin Rue and Barbara of Newark, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers: Forrest Rue, and Ronald Rue.

Ida Mae Peterson – Terral, OK
Ida Mae Peterson left this Earth to be with her Lord and Savior, peacefully in her sleep on Thursday night, March 10, 2011, at the age of 96 years, 10 months, and 12 days. Funeral services were held Saturday, March 12, 2011 at First Baptist Church in Terral at 2:30 pm with Rev. Randy Allen officiating. Burial was in the Terral Cemetery under the direction of Terral Funeral Home.
Ida Mae Henderson was born April 26th, 1914 in Montague County, Texas. She was the second child born to Mr. & Mrs. Ira Henderson. Ida Mae Henderson married Willis (Slim) Peterson on April 5, 1930, of this union two daughters were born: Virginia Mae Peterson Tanner and Alpha Fay Peterson Hall. Willis and Ida Mae farmed and ranched in the Jefferson County area for many years. Ida Mae was a homemaker. She was a wonderful cook and fabulous baker. She shared her table with everyone, providing wonderful meals for their workers, and the people who came to buy their watermelons and cantaloupes.
Ida Mae is survived by her daughters: Virginia Peterson Tanner, and Alpha Peterson Hall, six grandchildren: Keith Hall of Ryan, OK, Myra Tanner Hamm of Terral, OK, Joanna Hall Ryan of Tishomingo, OK, Debbie Tanner of Terral, OK, Connie Tanner Chambers of Ribera, New Mexico, and Anita Hall Martin of Ryan, OK. Nine Great Grandchildren: Rachel Hall Williams, of Duncan, OK. Lida Fay Ryan of Miami, OK, Jacob Hall of Edmond, OK, Ty Chambers of Ribera, NM, Shelby Hamm of Norman, OK, Sean Hamm of Weatherford, OK, Michael Alane Chambers of Ribera, NM, Alana Martin and J.D. Martin both of Ryan, OK. Two Great- Great Grand sons: Cooper Keith Hall of Edmond, and Tres Michael Chambers of Ribera, NM and Baby Girl Williams of Duncan, OK. One sister, Mary Weatherly, one brother, Jim Henderson – both of Shawnee, OK. And many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by: both parents, Mr. & Mrs. Ira Henderson, her husband, Willis, two sisters, Gladys Gamble and Ruby Marshall, one brother, Junior Henderson, and one great – grandson, Derrick Douglas Hamm.
Ida Mae “trusted the Lord” when she was 13 years old and joined the First Baptist Church of Terral. She began teaching Sunday School in 1952 and continued teaching for 44 years. She loved every minute of it. Ida Mae was Worthy Matron of the Eastern Star and was a member of the Eastern Star for 50 years.

Billy Joe Odom – Duncan, OK
Mr. Billy Joe Odom, age 82, of Duncan passed away Saturday evening, March 5, 2011 at Duncan Regional Hospital, following a sudden illness. A memorial service will be held at a later date, under the direction of Comanche Funeral Home.
Billy was born June 27,1928 at Comanche to L.L. and Jewel (Potts) Odom. He was a lifelong resident of this area, where he was a farmer and rancher. He enjoyed working on tractors, gardening, hunting, and fishing. He and Ayako “Peggy” Yosida were married 53 years ago in Japan.
Billy was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother, L.L. Odom.
Survivors include his wife Peggy, of the home; son Jimmy Odom and wife Winnie, Oklahoma City; granddaughter Samantha Odom, Oklahoma City; a sister Betty Marshall, Pennsylvania; an aunt Lucille Robinson, Duncan; two nieces Carolyn Stewart, Duncan; and Patsy Allen, Tulsa; and many other relatives and friends.
Alex J. Richardson II – Duncan, OK

Donald B. Tinker – Comanche, OK
Mr. Donald Browne Tinker, 70, of rural Comanche passed away Monday evening, February 21, 2011 at his residence north of town. A memorial service will be held Thursday February 24th at 11:00 a.m. at the Comanche Funeral Home Chapel, with Bro. Dow Pannell officiating.
Donald was born May 11, 1940 at Phoenix, Arizona to James LeRoy and Florence Isabelle (Browne) Tinker. He proudly served his country in the United States Army. On March 16, 1973 he and Rebecca Lee Pate were married at Plainview, Texas. They had made their home in this community since 2002, coming from Irving, Texas.
Mr. Tinker was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife Rebecca, of the home; a twin brother, Roy B. Tinker and wife Nadine, Sulphur, Oklahoma; a sister Isabelle Adomoli and husband Ron, Phoenix, Arizona; and several nieces and nephews.
Levi Eugene “Gene” Hendricks—Newalla, OK
Levi Eugene “Gene” Hendricks, former Comanche resident, passed away Wednesday afternoon, February 16, 2011 at Norman Regional Hospital at the age of 83. A graveside service will be held Saturday February 19th at 1:00 p.m. at Fairlawn Cemetery, with Bro. Billy Morgan officiating, under the direction of Comanche Funeral Home. Visitation will be Friday 9:00-7:00 and Saturday 10:00- 12:00. The family will be receiving friends from 6:00-7:00 Friday evening at the funeral home.
Gene entered this world in Comanche on Oct. 17, 1927 to Levi Leslie and Pearl Mae (Adams) Hendricks. He was the 5th child of 8. He attended Comanche School where he played football. He graduated high school in 1948. He proudly served his country in the United States Army.
He was active for several years in Girl Scouts of Redland Council and P.T.A. He coached Little League baseball, which he enjoyed greatly. Gene also loved skiing, bowling, hunting (especially quail). He was active in playdays, and had a great love for horses.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers: A.J., and Leo; three sisters: Clara Mae, Neoma, and Artaveta.

Zane Gray (Petey) Myers – Duncan, OK
Mr. Zane Gray (Petey) Myers, a longtime resident of this area passed away on Sunday, February 13, 2011 at his home in Duncan, following a lengthy battle with cancer. He was 76 years old. A graveside service will be held Wednesday, February 16th at 1:00 p.m. at Fairlawn Cemetery with his son Mark Myers officiating, under the direction of Comanche Funeral Home. Petey was born April 13, 1934 at Yarnaby, OK to Harvey Jesse and Georgia Dewey (Hendrix) Myers.
He was a graduate of Comanche High School. Petey proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. He loved to fish, and play cards and dominos with friends and family.

Andrew Elmo (Mike) McCartney passed away on Tuesday February 8th, 2011 in Duncan
Regional Hospital at the age of 94.He was born June 24th 1916 in Loco , Ok
to Andrew Wayne McCartney and Ophir Harris McCartney. Elmo (Mike) McCartney was
a pumper of Ring and Ring Brothers of Velma and Vi-Roi Oil Company for many many
years in the Velma area.

Elisabeth was born October 22, 1921 at Gelnhausen, Germany to Heinrich and Maria Katharina Susanna Anna(Bach) Hix. She came to America in 1963, and later that year she and Price Harvill were married in Wichita Falls, Texas on December 19th. Elisabeth loved visiting with friends and drinking coffee, watching her favorite shows, “Dallas” and “Bonanza”, she loved to sew, go shopping, and she loved animals.
Survivors include one daughter, Anneliese Smith, Comanche; two step-sons: Raymond Tucker, Comanche, and James Price Tucker, Wichita, Kansas; nine grandchildren: Bryant Smith, Comanche; Donna Oglesby and husband Darrin, Norman; Kim Hodges and husband Randy, Comanche; Matt Tucker and wife Debbie, Comanche; Shad Tucker and wife Rochett, Chickasha; Malayna Tucker and husband Calvin, Norman; Melissa Tucker and husband Chris, Lawton; Brian Tucker and wife Jennifer, Colorado; and Garrett Tucker, Marlow; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; a special nephew Greg Morgan and wife Lisa, Comanche; and a special friend, Connie Holly, of Comanche.

Hester (Cricket) Spencer – Comanche, OK
Mrs. Hester (Cricket) Spencer, a longtime resident of Comanche passed away Friday morning, January 14, 2011 at Burkburnett, TX , at the age of 84. Interment will follow at Fairlawn Cemetery, under the direction of Comanche Funeral Home. Visitation will be Sunday 1:00-5:00 p.m. and Monday 9:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m.
Cricket was born August 19, 1926 at Tupelo, OK to Coy and Melisssia (Davis) Hensley. In 1935 she moved with her family to Comanche. She and Wendell Spencer were married in Gainesville, TX in 1946. They made their home in Vici, OK for eighteen months then moved back to Duncan and later Comanche. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Comanche and the Comanche Homemakers for 55 years.
She enjoyed fishing, camping in the 5th wheel. She was a member of the Holiday Rambler Travel Club, and she enjoyed this very much.
Cricket is survived by one daughter and son in law, Gayla and John Kessinger, Burkburnett, TX; four grandchildren: Eric, Kim, Kris, and Kelli; eight great-grandchildren: River, Will, Brock, Jackson, Madison, Alyson, Lindley, and Lucas; and two sisters in law Vesper and Jo Hensley and two brothers in law--Diz Spencer and Jake Brown.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Wendell, her twin sister “Shorty”, and six brothers: Pete, Elmer, Dutch, Cat, Mike, and Jack.

Doy Gene Jones – Comanche, OK
Mr. Doy Gene Jones of Comanche passed away Friday evening,
December 31, 2010 at Duncan Regional Hospital. He was 83 years old.
Doy was born April 27, 1927 at Randlett, Oklahoma to Henry
Lafayette and Ida Lorena (Mize) Jones. He was a World War II Veteran,
having served in the Merchant Marines, at age 16; and later he proudly
served in the U.S. Navy, being honorably discharged in
1946. Throughout his lifetime Doy worked in the insurance field, was a
homebuilder, and later worked in the oil and gas industry. He was a
devoted follower and believer in the Lord.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers:
John Norris, Gerald De Lafayette “Skeeter” Jones, James Stanley Jones,
Ernest Jerry Epps; one sister Bobbie Ruth Kopsas; and a granddaughter,
Lindsay Luther.
Doy is survived by four children: Melodee Slade, Marble
Falls, Texas; Rocky Jones and his wife Bonnie, Houston, Texas; Melissa
Giddings and her husband Robert, Denver, Colorado; and Court Jones and
his wife Kim, Scottsdale, Arizona; eight grandchildren: Erin and
husband Ty, Courtney, Megan and husband Jason, Katherine, Claire,
Ashley, Emileigh, and Cade; two great grandchildren Matthew and
Brycen; three brothers: Darwin Childs Jones and his wife Estell, Elmer
Zade (EZ) Jones and his wife Lena, and Mervyn Dean Jones and his wife
Lera; and one sister Anna Faynell Morris and her husband Bob.

LaWanda Powers, 77, a lifelong resident of Comanche, peacefully passed away Saturday afternoon, Janurary 8, 2011 at Wilkins Nursing Home following a lengthy illness. A funeral service will be held Tuesday January 11th at 1:30 p.m. at Ray of Hope Church, with Bro. Dow Pannell and Bro. Mike McCord officiating. Interment will follow at Fairlawn Cemetery, under the direction of Comanche Funeral Home. Visitation will be Monday 9:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Tuesday 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. The family will be receiving friends from 6:00-7:00 p.m. Monday evening at the funeral home.
LaWanda was born August 15, 1933 between Comanche and Duncan, to Stell and Ellie Lutitia Bell (Stroud) Ratliff. She and Andrew Powers were married on August 20, 1949 at Wichita Falls, Texas and remained married for 43 years until Andrew’s death on March 29, 1992.
LaWanda was a very active lady in her community. She was a homemaker and enjoyed raising her children. At the time of Comanche’s Centennial celebration, she and Bruce Lindsey were chosen “Man and Woman of the Year”. She was an active member of the Comanche Women’s Club for many years. She also served as chairwoman for the Comanche Community Christmas Baskets; and chaired and coordinated the Comanche Fall Fest for numerous years. LaWanda loved crocheting, quilting, cooking , listening to music, going to Lake Texhoma, but more than anything she loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew, her parents, a younger brother Lonnie Ratliff, and her older brother and sister in law Dee and Betty Ratliff, and a brother in law George Watson.
LaWanda was deeply loved and respected by her surviving family, which includes a son, Mike Powers and wife Susan, Comanche; two daughters: Cheryl Pannell and husband Dow, Comanche; and Patti Harper and husband Pat, Comanche; six grandchildren: Justin Powers and wife Kasee, Comanche; Mindee Powers and finace’ Chance Freeman, Sulphur, OK; Scotty Powers and wife Dena, Conway, AR; Lisa Montgomery andhusband Jeff, Ardmore, OK; Bryan Collinsworth and wife Shaunda, Comanche; and Candace Collinsworth, Oklahoma City, OK; great grandchildren: Averie Powers, A.J. Shirley Irene Holly – Comanche, OK
Mrs. Shirley Irene Holly, a longtime resident of Comanche peacefully passed away Friday, December 31, 2010 in a Longview, Texas hospital, at the age of 71. A funeral service will be held Friday, January 7, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at the Fellowship Outreach Center in Ringling, with Rev. John Murrell officiating. Interment will follow at Dixie Cemetery, under the direction of Comanche Funeral Home. Visitation will be Thursday 9:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m., and Friday 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. The family will be receiving friends from 5:00 -6:00 on Thursday evening at the funeral home.
Shirley was born September 1, 1939 at Ringling to John Edward and Dovie Irene (Sessums) Skeen. On May 8, 1957 she married Norman D. Holly at Peoria, Arizona. He preceded her in death in 2000.
She enjoyed homemaking, camping, decorating, yard work, gardening, visiting with her family and friends, but she truly loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She played for the Japanese National softball team while she was stationed with her husband in Japan.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and a granddaughter, Dana Morris.
Survivors include three children: Debby Jones and husband Michael, Comanche; Ricky Holly and wife Connie, Duncan; and Darren Holly, Midwest City; a brother James Skeen and wife Nancy, Fort Worth, TX; a sister Shelia Pinnick and husband Kenneth, Longview, TX; six grandchildren: Treina Holly, Travis Alderman, Diane Jones, Mikey Jones, Dusti Holly, and Dillon Holly; five great-grandchildren: Cason Morris, Kynli Morris, Caylen Morris, Kimber Morris, and Christian Jones; and many other relatives and dear friends.

Bettye Jo Williams, 85, a longtime resident of Comanche, passed away on Friday evening, December 31, 2010 at Duncan Regional Hospital, after a lengthy illness. A funeral service will be held Wednesday, January 5, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. at the Comanche First Baptist Church, with Bro. Timothy Ball officiating. Interment will follow at Fairlawn Cemetery, under the direction of Comanche Funeral Home. Visitation will be Monday 9:00-4:00, and Tuesday 9:00-7:00.
Bettye was born May 23, 1925 in Waurika to Charles William and Thelma (Roberts) McBride. She married Ray Jean Williams on February 20, 1942 in Ardmore, and they remained married until Ray’s death on July 10, 1990. Bettye and Ray had two children, Zack Ray Williams and Vickie Jeane Scheidemantel.
Bettye had an exemplary professional career as a longtime employee of the Security State Bank of Comanche, and as a vice-president of the Walters Bank and Trust, in Walters. She was a member of the Comanche Chapter No. 413 of the Order of the Eastern Star, and was a supporter of the First Baptist Church in Comanche, the Veterans of Foreign Ware of USA, the American Legion, the Disabled Veterans Association, and the Humane Society. She enjoyed fishing and dancing, and was an avid fan of football, basketball, tennis, golf, and bull riding.
Bettye was preceded in death by her husband, her daughter Vicki, her grandson Zack Ray Williams II, two siblings Jimmie Charles McBride and Beverly Ann Silkwood, and her parents.
Bettye was deeply loved and respected by her surviving family including her son Zack and his wife LaVonn; three granddaughters, Michelle Renea Collier and her husband Dan, Teri Largent and her husband Randy, and Wendi Scott and her husband Justin; one great grandson, Mitchell Hastings and his wife Andi; great granddaughters Micala Hastings, Drisana Litke and husband- Bradon, Meleah Emerson, Becca Largent, and Makena Scott; her brother Edward Robert (Bob) McBride and his wife Lisa; her brother-in-law Roy Williams; her sister-in-law Linda McBride; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Bettye loved and was proud of her family and treasured her many friendships. Bettye’s answer was never “no” but was always when, where, and how, and how much. She filled a glowing spot in this world and her absence creates a large void that can only be filled with the wonderful memories that she left. We love you and will miss you Mom, granny, and friend.
Billy Ray Skeen – Comanche, Ok
Billy Ray Skeen, 79, went to be with our Lord and Savior on Thursday November 25, 2010. A funeral service celebrating Bill’s life will be held on Monday November 29th at 2:00 p.m. at the Fellow Outreach Center in Ringling, OK with Bro. John Murrell officiating. Burial will follow at Dixie Cemetery, under the direction of Comanche Funeral Home. Visitation will be Saturday from 1:00 pm - 6:00 pm , Sunday from 1:00 pm - 6:00 p.m. and Monday 9:00-11:00 a.m. The family will be receiving friends today 4:00 pm until 6:00 pm at the funeral home on Sunday.
Billy was born to Jesse James and Lillie Florine (Shipman) Skeen on March 22, 1931 in Loco, OK. Billy was a lifetime resident of the Loco and Comanche areas. He was a member of Oasis West Church. He married Betty Starnes in Wichita Falls, TX on March 10, 1952. They raised a wonderful family of six children in the Loco area. Bill started his fencing business after his earlier years as a ranch hand at the 4-J Ranches. Bill was a proud, hard working Christian, and to him, everyone he met was never a stranger. He always had the right words to say that would either make them laugh or at least smile. He will be dearly missed by his family and many friends he met through his life.
Survivors include his wife Betty, of Comanche; four daughters: Gayle Womack and husband Butch, Yvette and Donna Skeen, all of Comanche; Patsy Ellis and husband Pat, Duncan; two sons: Elmer Skeen and wife Annette, Duncan; Stacy Skeen and wife Jamie, Comanche; two sisters: Rosa Griffith, Loco; and Rene Sullivan, Duncan; 13 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild.
Pallbearers will be Rusty Womack, Ritchie Shannon, Michael Skeen, Eddie Harris, Kirby Skeen, Randy Carlson, and Patrick Jones.

Bryan Austin Wilson
Bryan Austin Wilson, loving son, grandson, brother, nephew, cousin, and friend to so many, peacefully passed away on Sunday afternoon, November 7, 2010 at his home in Duncan. He was 13 years old. A funeral service celebrating Bryan’s life will be held Wednesday, November 10th at 2:00 p.m. at Ray of Hope Church, with Bro. Dow Pannell and Bro. Mike McCord officiating. Burial will follow at Fairlawn Cemetery, under the direction of Comanche Funeral Home. Visitation will be Tuesday 9:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. and Wednesday 9:00 a.m. until noon. The family will be receiving friends on Tuesday evening from 5:00-6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Bryan was born July 14, 1997 in Duncan. He was currently a 7th grader at Comanche Middle School. Bryan loved all sports, fishing, 4 wheeling, going to the shooting range, skating, watching movies, playing with his RC car, caring for his dogs, and hanging out with his friends and family.

Patsy Ruth “Pat” Vanbebber-Comanche, Ok
Patsy Ruth Vanbebber, a former resident of Comanche passed away Saturday evening October 30, 2010 in Marlow, at the age of 79. A graveside funeral service will be held Wednesday, November 3, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. in the Fairlawn Cemetery, with Bro. Timothy Ball officiating, under the direction of Comanche Funeral Home. Visitation will be Tuesday 1:00-4:00 and Wednesday 9:00 a.m. until service time.
Pat was born October 7, 1931 in Pocasset, Oklahoma to Elton and Ceble(Hornberger) Pierce . On August 12, 1949 she and Jakie Carl Vanbebber were married in Wichita Falls, Texas. He preceded her in death on December 9, 1993.
Pat loved cooking, dancing, caring for the terrapins in her yard, visiting with her many friends in the area, and spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was a former member of the Comanche First Baptist Church.
Survivors include her son Jakie Ray Vanbebber and his wife Teresa, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; daughter Lynda Cummins and husband David, Lawton, Oklahoma; one brother Bobby Pierce and wife Jean, Moore, Oklahoma; a cousin Lisa Capers and her husband Bobby, Austin ,Texas; four grandchildren and three great grandchildren; and her constant companion for many years, Dale Baker, Marlow, Oklahoma.
Katheryne Burk --Comanche, Ok
Katheryne Burk passed from this life into everlasting joy early Friday morning, October 29, 2010 at the Meridian Nursing Home, at the age of 87.
Katheryne was preceded in death by her beloved son, Bobby Plott. She leaves two children: Lonnie Plott, and Judy Burk, and four grandchildren.
Katheryne’s life as a housewife and mother took her to numerous states. She established households in diverse metropolitan cities such as Las Vegas, Nevada, and Fort Worth, Texas, as well as virtual dots on the map, such as French Settlement and Saint Amant, Louisiana. But no matter where her journeys took her, she always made her way back to the only place she considered home, Comanche and Duncan, because that’s where the people she loved so much lived.
As Katheryne leaves her earthly home, she is now surrounded by a whole host of relatives and friends she hasn’t seen or spoken to in a long time. They welcomed her with open arms and loving hearts. Katheryne is happy now, eternally happy.
Interment will be in Fairlawn Cemetery in Comanche, on Friday, November 12th,at 10:00 a.m., under the direction of Comanche Funeral Home. In keeping with her wishes, Katheryne will rest at the feet of her parents, Velda and Barney Burk, near her brothers, Clyde, and Jiggs, and sister, Billye Burk.
Carl Buford Calame – Comanche, OK
Carl Buford “C.B.” Calame passed away Thursday, October 28, 2010 at his home in Comanche. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, November 2nd at 2:00 p.m. at the Comanche Funeral Home with Bro. Randy Southerland officiating. Interment will follow at Fairlawn Cemetery under the direction of Comanche Funeral Home. Visitation will be Sunday 1:00 until 5:00 p.m. and Monday 9:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m.
Pallbearers will be Dick Phillips, Doug Howard, Dr. Terry Parkman, Jon Parkman, Daniel Calame and Luke Howard. Honorary pallbearers will be Jack Phillips, Petty Officer Brandon Parkman and Jackie Phillips.
C.B. was born October 22, 1922 in Comanche, to Carl Buford “Babe” Calame and Nellie Lois Peck . After graduating 8th grade from Fairlawn School and attending Comanche High School, he transferred to and graduated from Walters High School in May 1942. He was very active in sports and loved football and baseball. Some of his fondest memories are reflected in the tales he told of growing up on his grandfather’s farm near Beaver Creek during the Great Depression. On September 5, 1950 he married Marjorie Jean Schaak in Wichita Falls, TX. She preceded him in death December, 1996.
C.B. served in the United States Navy during World War II in the South Pacific until his discharge on May 25, 1949. He was recalled to serve in the Korean War finally being honorably discharged in December, 1951. He received an Associate Degree in Science from Cameron Junior College, Lawton, followed by a career with Halliburton Services, from which he retired in January 1985.
C.B. was very involved with his children, grandchildren, nephews, and nieces. He had a great love of the outdoors, enjoyed sports, fishing, hunting, golfing and gardening. He spent great deal of time at both the Comanche and Waurika lakes fishing with family and friends. He was a big fan of OU and OSU football, as well as the Dallas Cowboys.
He is survived by four children and their spouses: Carl and Debra Calame, Sugarland, TX, Deborah and Dr. Terry Parkman, Athens, GA, Susan and Doug Howard, Oklahoma City, OK, and Edward Calame, Comanche. In addition, C.B. has seven grandchildren: Daniel Calame, Elizabeth Calame, Jon Parkman and wife Jessica, Brandon Parkman, Andrea Parkman, Marjorie Wetwiska and husband Steven and Luke Howard; as well as two great-grandchildren, Lyla Helen Parkman and Jack Henry Wetwiska.
C.B. is also survived by his one brother, Bud Calame, Hobbs, NM and four sisters: Sissie Pendleton, Artesia, CA, Nell and Jack Phillips, Comanche, Johnnie Mae Hare, Duncan, Judy and Lloyd Benson, Frederick, OK, as well as many nieces and nephews.
C.B. Calame lived an exemplary life as a husband and father. His life was complete and wonderful in every way. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Mrs Kathy Ann Williams McClennen of Duncan passed away Saturday morning, October 16, 2010 at OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City at the age of 68. Kathy was born on August 17, 1942 in San Angelo, TX where she up, being raised by her mother, Dollye Cooke. She married Mack McClennen on February 14, 1987 in Hot Springs, Arkansas. They were residents in the area for over 20 years. kathy enjoyed gardening, growing flowers, landscaping, fishing, camping, working wtih arts and crafts, but more than anything else she loved to spend time with her children and grandchildren.

Mr. Louis Don Triplitt, age 56, of Terral, passed away suddenly on Sunday afternoon, October 10, 2010 in Terral. A funeral service will be held Wednesday October 13th at 10:00 a.m. at the Terral School Auditorium. Burial will be at 3:00 p.m. at Lone Oak Cemetery, west of Sayre, under the direction of Terral Funeral Home. Visitation will be Wednesday from 12:00-7:00 p.m.
Louis was born February 14, 1954 at Sayre to Kenneth Louis and Joyce Elwanda (Prater) Triplitt. He married Eva Ruth Hornsby on September 29, 1972 at Sayre. Louis was a retired firefighter, and was currently working as a mechanical inspector for the State of Oklahoma. He enjoyed working outdoors, repairing things, always working on different projects, and carpentry work. He loved playing with his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife Eva Ruth, of the home; a son, Heath Triplitt and wife Janet, Lewisburg, PA; a daughter Makala Silk and husband Jeremy, Blanchard, OK; and six grandchildren: Carlie, Lauren, and Andrew Triplitt; and Bailey, Karah, and Gentry Silk, an aunt Marie Allison of Sayre; and mother-in-law Sadie Hornsby also of Sayre. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Dewey Eugene Hartman - Duncan, OK
Mr. Dewey Eugene Hartman, 80, of Duncan, passed away Monday afternoon, October 4, 2010 at Shawnee, OK. A graveside funeral service will be held on Friday October 8th at 10:00 a.m. in the Fairlawn Cemetery, with Frank Balch officiating, under the direction of Comanche Funeral Home. Visitation will be Wednesday 9:00-6:00, and Thursday 9:00-7:00. The family will be receiving friends from 5:00-6:00 Thursday evening at the funeral home.
Dewey was born August 7, 1930 near Empire, to Ross and Esther (Looney) Hartman. He proudly served his country in the United States Army. He was a heavy equipment operator. On December 31, 1979 he married Mary Balch in Comanche. He enjoyed woodworking, camping, collecting anything associated with John Deere, but more than anything he enjoyed spending time with his wife, children, and grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife Mary, of the home; three sons: Dewey Hartman and wife Juanita, Comanche; Jim Suson and wife Sandra, Duncan; and Jeff Suson and wife Susie, Sulphur; four daughters: Brenda Chandler and husband Bill, Duncan; Shirley Ausmus, Duncan; Darlene Pritchard and husband Butch, Bristow, OK; and Melody Cornforth and husband Randy, Marlow; one sister, Virginia Burden, Comanche; two brothers: Don Hartman, Minco,OK; and Royce Hartman, California; fourteen grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren.
Linda Sue Squibb--- Comanche, OK
Mrs. Linda Sue Squibb peacefully passed away on Tuesday afternoon, September 21, 2010 at her daughter's home in Comanche at the age of 56. Linda was born on September 30, 1953 in Walters, OK to William and Georgie(Swimford) Kelley. She was a loving mother, grandmother, daughter and sister. Her love, strength and courage has been the building blocks of her family's foundation. Through the struggles of her illness with pancreatic cancer, she never wavered with her faith or principles. Her beauty stemmed not only through her love, but through those that loved her. She has built a legacy that will survive the generations. She will forever be loved and missed.

Lee Edward "Bud" Morgan--Comanche, Ok
Lee Edward "Bud" Morgan passed away Wednesday evening September 22, 2010 at his residence north of Comanche at the age of 71. He was born on October 15, 1938 near Weaver's Chapel, east of Comanche to Oscar Edward and Dorotha Dean(Robeson) Morgan. Bud was born with physical and mental handicaps which left him with no use of his legs and a vocabulary limited to just a few words. yet he had a vibrant and expressive personality. Although he was unable to live what most people would call a "normal" life, Bud always remembered things , places and people that were special to him and he easily communicated those feelings.

Jimmie "Jim" Don Seratte passed away Saturday morning, September 25, 2010 at his residence north of Comanche at the age of 75. He was born on April 11, 1935 in Duncan, Ok to Leonard and Lois(Busby) Seratte. Jim proudly served in the United States Navy from 1954 til 1964. He married Nancy Higgins on August 28, 1959 in Long Beach, Calfornia. Jim was the Superintendent for the Midway City, California Sanitary District. He loved bowling, fishing, yard work and working on his trucks.
